"Can you believe her?"

"Who?"

"Tiff! I can't believe she created a gossip column in the school newspaper. And she's getting all her little snobby friends to help her with it," Alex shoves the school newspaper in my face. Sure enough, on the front cover, Slytherin Secrets: by Tiffany Pierson is on the cover.

"Of course Tiff out of all people would do this," I huffed, shaking my head. I toss the newspaper back to Alex and suck on another sugar quill. "Remind me again why we have to eat these sweets under the quidditch stands?"

"Love, we can't have these contraband sweets out in the open! Don't want the powers that be catching on my lunchtime truancy vibes. P.S., those sweets are tight, right?" I laugh and nod my head. I'm about to open my mouth to reply, when a familiar voice, following footsteps catch our attention above us.

"I don't know, Cedric. It's like... you don't have time for me anymore. All you do is hang out with her." Tiffany.

"What am I supposed to wait around for you like an idiot while you're off with this seventh year?" Cedric scoffs.

"We should get out, this sounds private," I mumble to Alex.

"Are you insane? That's your boyfriend!" Fake boyfriend. "And they're talking about you!"

"Honestly, he's not a good listener," Tiff complains.

"Because he's not at your beck and call like I am. Tiff, you can't keep doing this to me," Cedric sighs.

"She's not coming on the ski trip, is she? That was going to be our thing!"

"What does it matter? You have a boyfriend," Cedric points out.

"Yeah, but... maybe by then... I won't." It was that exact moment, that I realized, I had gotten too attached. I was too caught up in faking this relationship with Cedric and letting myself pretend it wasn't fake that I forgot the whole reason we started fake dating in the first place: for him to get back Tiff.

"Love! Tiff is after your man!" Alex whisper shouted. Yeah, she was. And she was going to get him, because he was never mine.

"I'm sorry, I know you don't want to hear about Cedric stuff. But I guess I just needed to talk to someone I thought might understand," I spoke, tugging on my sleeves. "I feel like the more used to him I get, the more it's gonna hurt when he inevitably gets back together with Tiff. And I'm so mad at myself because... I should've seen this coming," I confessed.

"I... I don't know what to tell you," Jace sighs. "That sucks. I'm sorry."

"Lexi Jade!" Cedric calls out, obviously annoyed.

"Want me to wait?" Jace says, darting his eyes between me and Cedric.

"You better not," I replied, slinging my bag over my shoulder. I began walking towards Cedric, and passing him as he followed me down an empty hallway.

"What do you think people are gonna say when they see my girlfriend cozying up next to Stevenson?" he scolds.

"What do you think people are gonna say when they hear that you're practically begging to get back together with Tiff on the quidditch stands?" I retorted. To be completely honest, he most definitely was not necessarily... begging. But I was frustrated at the moment.

"So what, you're spying on me now?"

"Not intentionally!"

Cedric sighs, "Okay, so I was talking to Tiff. So what? You don't even write about us in your letters back home!"
