chapter 5

Ellie pulls out a small gift bag from her backpack, it is a little bit damaged sadly. She hands it to Sam.

"Here, open it." Ellie suggests.

"Okay." Sam replies and then proceeds to remove the tissue paper from the tiny bag.

As he finishes taking all of it out, he sees a little box in there too. He looks at her curiously.

"What could be in here?" Sam asked himself.

He finally opens the box after seeing Ellie's excited face. He pulls out a key chain from the box.

"What the? Ellie, what is this?" Sam asked, confused.

"It's a keychain. Did you see the front?" Ellie asked.

"O-oh. No I didn't. Here let me check." Sam replies.

He turns the keychain around to see a cute photo of them from their trip to Hawaii last summer. He also notices writing on the keychain, "Ellie is the best." it said.

"Awe. Thank you Ellie." Sam said before giving her a big hug.

"Of course. Okay, I'm tired." Ellie told Sam.

"Ok." Sam replies, then Ellie turns off the lamp on her nightstand.

Once again, they cuddle with each other. Hugging, Ellie thinks of Sam as more than a friend.

"I love you Ellie. Goodnight." Sam said lovingly, then kisses her nose.

"Hehe. Goodnight Sammy. I love you too." Ellie gladly tells him.

But then, Sam notices something. Ellie's scared.

"Hey El, are you okay?" Sam asked, waiting for a reply he realizes that Ellie is crying.

"Ellie! What's wrong?" Sam asked, concerned.

Ellie turns to him and then hugs him with all of her strength.

"I-I'm scared Sammy." Ellie muffles into his shirt.

"Of the movie? Ellie, it's not real okay? It's fiction and you know that." Sam comforts her.

"Yeah but, it's still scary." Ellie hugs him tighter.

"Ellie-" Sam pauses.

"Ellie, I'm right here. I'll protect you okay? No matter what, I'm always going to be there for you." Sam said while removing his hoodie from Ellie's back.

He forgot that she wasn't wearing a shirt. That didn't stop Ellie from hugging him though. Sam thought that if Ellie hugging him makes her happy, so be it, even if she's not wearing a shirt

"Goodnight Sammy." Ellie said as she gradually gets closer to his face.

"Aha, Goodnight Ellie. Don't worry, I'll hold you forever. I love you." Sam replies.

"I love you." Ellie said then drifts off.

Sam kisses her nose and then falls asleep as well.
