chapter 14

The next day…

Eve walks to school. She didn't see Kris running toward her.

"Hey bud. How are you?" Kris asked.

"I told my parents, and they weren't mad." Eve smiles.

"But I'm scared to tell Finn." Eve adds on.

"Don't worry. He loves you right? He won't get mad." Kris said.

They walk to their homeroom to see Finn standing in front of Eve's homeroom.

"Hey. We need to talk." Finn said. Eve felt her stomach sink.

"Okay, bye Kris." Eve left.

"Bye." Kris walked to Sam and Ellie.

"Did you have a test yesterday?" Finn asked.

"No. Why?" Eve said.

"Are you lying to me?" Finn seems more aggressive towards her.

Eve stands there frozen. She starts to remember her abusive ex, who was always aggressive. All of the painful memories come flooding back. Tears start to fall down her face.

"N-No…" Eve begins to sob.

"Are you?" Finn gets closer to her.

"N-No I'm no-." Eve runs toward Autumn once she sees her.

"Eve!" Finn calls her but she's too fast.

Eve hugs Autumn.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Autumn asked, everyone else but Finn walked over to them.

"He yelled at me." Eve cries.

"Why? Do you want us to tell him?" Ellie asked.

"No. I can do it." Eve regains her confidence and walks over to Finn. He doesn't look that upset anymore.

"Hey." Finn said.

"Hi, can we talk? I have to tell you som-'' Eve gets interrupted by Finn hugging her.

"I'm sorry." He said, sniffling into her shoulder.

"I-It's okay. But I really need to tell you something important." Eve said.

"I know. Just wait. I just want to hold you for a little bit longer." Finn told her.

"Okay Okay." Eve hugs him.

RING! RING!

The bell just rang and everyone had to go to their homerooms.

"Cmon' Eve." Kris pulls her into homeroom.

Science…

"Did you tell him yet?" Autumn asked Eve once they got to class.

"I couldn't. He just hugged me and I couldn't say anything." Eve replied.

"Oh. Are you going to tell him at lunch?" Autumn asked.

"I guess so." Eve shrugs.
"Are you nauseous? Do you want food?" Autumn asked. Eve shakes her head.

Lunch…

Everyone goes to their lunch table and sits down. Eve signals Finn to walk with her outside, they leave.

"I hope they're going to be okay." Ellie said to the rest of the group.

"Hey." Eve shyly smiles once they get to the picnic table next to the track.

"Hi, what did you need to tell me?" Finn puts his hand on her waist.

"Um, promise you won't get mad?" Eve asked.

"Eve, I promise not to get mad at you for any reason." Finn said.

"Ok. I'm pregnant." Eve spits out. Finn stares at her blankly.

"WHAT?!" Finn shouts. Eve shushes him.

"Let's walk over here." Eve giggles and pulls him aside.

"When did this happen? When did you find out? Are your parents mad at me? Is this bad? Are you keeping the baby?" Finn continues to ask hundreds of questions.

"Finn, my parents aren't mad. I found out yesterday. It's your baby because I've never done it with anyone before you. But do you want to keep it?" Eve asked.

"YES!" Finn happily shouted. He stood up and kissed her.

"I mean, it's going to be difficult. But I'm ready for it." He added. Eve giggles.

They both walked back into the cafeteria where everyone else was.

"You guys good?" Kris asked.

"Yep." Finn puts his hand on Eve's stomach. She laughs.

"Stop it!" Eve playfully knocks his hand off of her.

They sit down and Ellie walks over to give Eve a hug.

"Yay." Ellie whispers in Eve's ear.

"Me and Ellie were coming up with names for the baby. We came up with Five." Autumn sarcastically said.

"That's a number." Sam said.

"So? Autumn is named after a season." Ellie said.

"True. But wouldn't that just be weird?" Kris added to Sam.

"You're just jealous." Autumn said.

They all ate food for the rest of lunch.

"Can we actually go to my house after school today?" Eve asked Finn, he nods.
