chapter 9

A few weeks later...

Ellie and Joshua walk in the hallway inside of Winoman High School, holding hands.

"Oh hey Ellie." Sam said as he rushed behind them after going to the restroom.

"Hey Sammy!" Ellie releases Joshua's hand to hug Sam. Joshua looks at him jealously, Sam ignores that and let's go of Ellie, she smiles at him for a short period of time. Sam and Ellie then rush off to their next class.

Sam doesn't know why Joshua doesn't like him, does he know about his feelings for Ellie? He's trying to get over her but regrets it because he should have told her when he had the chance.

At lunch...

Ellie and Sam went towards the cafeteria and sat on their normal table, where Eve and Finn were sitting. They all started talking about their day. Joshua walked over to the table a couple minutes later.

"Hey." Joshua said to Ellie.

"Oh, hi!" Ellie happily replies to him.

He grabbed her by the waist and helped her up, he wanted her all to himself.

"Let's go." Joshua said to her, hoping that they would be alone.

"Okay, I'll see you guys later!" Ellie said to Sam and the rest of their friends at their table.

Sam started to get worried. What were they going to do? Have they done "it" before? He was scared that maybe Joshua wasn't a good boyfriend or maybe he was using Ellie. He is the most popular person at school, and Ellie wasn't.

"Oh no." Sam whispered to himself after seeing Joshua and Ellie walk over to the popular kids' table.

"What's so bad about that?" Finn asked.

"Oh, um. Can I say something?" Eve said softly to Finn.

"Yeah babe. It's okay to go ahead." Finn said.

Eve was a part of an abusive relationship before Finn, so she was always scared that she would do something wrong. Since then, Finn has been trying to convince her that he loves her and would never hurt her like that.

"Do you still like her?" Eve confidently said after gaining permission to say something.

"I don't know. I just don't trust that guy." Sam sadly laughs.

"Hey. You know that Ellie would never leave us, right?" Finn said but then wonders if she really would.

They all look over at Joshua's table. Ellie looks so happy. Sam couldn't take it.

"I gotta go-" Sam runs off, but Eve starts to see him tear up as he leaves.

"Oh no he's crying." Eve said softly to Finn.

Finn quickly walks to the boys restroom where Sam had run off to. Eve stays behind with the other people at the table so that it isn't that suspicious.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Finn asked Sam as he walked inside.

"I LOVE HER!!" Sam sadly yells.

The whole cafeteria becomes silent. It seems as if everyone had heard Sam scream, without knowing that it was him. Sam walks out of the building. Ellie quickly follows him out. Everyone watches them from a distance.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Ellie asked as she finally got Sam to stop walking away.

"It's just-" Sam looks into her bright green eyes. He's finally ready to tell her about his feelings, and he forgot that she has a boyfriend.

"I love you." Sam said, then kisses her.

Ellie suddenly backs away and looks at him as if he was a monster.

"I-I have to go." Ellie runs home.
