Georgie’s P.O.V

I stared at him trying to supress my laughter, “Dan I’m definitely taking you to the hospital tomorrow.” I looked at him and I expected him to laugh too; but he didn’t.

“Georgie please listen to me.”

“Dan you honestly think I’m going to believe this?” I said still slightly laughing.

“Okay, Georgie, seriously I’m your brother. No joking about now.” I looked at him trying to tell if he was joking or not. He was deadly serious.

“Why are you saying this though Dan? It doesn’t make any sense.”

“I know, I need to explain everything.” He sighed. “I-I what I mean is” Dan stuttered“I’ll explain properly in the morning but I worked it out for myself after camping. That necklace you wear.”

“What the key one?” He nodded.

“My dad had the same one, well my dad passed away a few years ago, and now I have it.”

“And you think that just because we have the same necklace we’re brother and sister.” I said still full of disbelief.

“Well that’s how I worked it out.” I frowned and looked down and my hands began to shake as I if was going to cry.

 “Dan this is mental.”

“I know it is, I was completely shocked myself. Anyway you go to bed and we’ll talk about this properly tomorrow.” I nodded looking at his clenched hands shaking slightly and went to walk out the kitchen before I stopped and turned around. I walked over to Dan and hugged him.

“I always wanted a brother.” I said. I pulled away and he smiled. He seemed to smile with relief.

“I was scared you were going to go crazy when you found out.” He laughed slightly.

“It was a shocker I’ll give you that.” I said and he laughed lightly. “I’m still completely confused and still don’t understand, but it’s cool. Night bro.” I said and walked out the kitchen up the stairs to my bedroom. I walked past the guest bedroom down the hall and was about to walk into my bedroom when I realised Emily hadn’t come back downstairs. I crept back to the guest bedroom door and pushed it open slightly and peered round. Her and Josh were lying next to each other; Josh’s arm was wrapped around her and she had her head against his chest. I smiled to myself and walked to my bedroom before I opened the door and walked in as quietly as possible so I didn’t wake Matt. I quickly got undressed and pulled on my pyjamas. I lifted up the cover and climbed under next to Matt. He wrapped his arm around me and pulled me into him and held his hand.

I lay there but I knew I couldn’t sleep; I had too much on my mind. So I had a brother. How did any of this make sense? Other thing I didn’t get was how my mom and Dan’s dad, well my dad, knew each other. My mom had had me quite young; she was only 20. So did they have an affair or wasn’t Dan’s mom and dad married then? Or was Dan’s dad the same age as my mom? There were too many questions to be answered. I sighed and tried to sleep but then the memories of Alex attacking me flooded back. If Dan hadn’t have been there Alex may have gone too far and left me unconscious on my own.
