She was your first love. You still remember the smell of her sweet perfume that lingered in your senses everyday. The same perfume you smelled every morning waking up with her by your side. The same scent you would savour when the two of were huddled up together. But those times were no more.

You had been broken up for a while and you'd been trying your best to move on, but you remained friends. Getting drunk with your squad didn't work anymore. You told yourself you were gonna let go of her. You couldn't. You loved her. You still loved her. You yearned for her like a hungry wolf in the dead of night, if that makes any sense. Sure, there were other girls. But there were none like Kali. Kali was special. No one could fill the void in your heart that Kali left when she left.

You sat in your room, sulking and self-loathing. You weren't yourself. You had "I'll Be Over You" by Toto on repeat on Spotify. Internalizing those lyrics.

Some people live their dreams
Some people close their eyes
Some people's destiny
Passes by

There are no guarantees
There are no alibis
That's how our love must be
Don't ask why

It takes some time
God knows how long
I know that I can forget you

Tears fell down your face as those lyrics hit you. Your heart crushed and fell to the ground with a sudden shock as you held the final reminder of Kali in your hand, her watch. She had left it with you when you two broke up. You don't know why she did. She never told you.

As soon as my heart stops breakin'
Anticipating
As soon as forever is through
I'll be over you

Remembering times gone by
Promises we once made
What are the reasons why
Nothing stays the same

There were the nights holding you close
Someday I'll try to forget them
Someday I'll be over you

Suddenly you heard a knock on your door. Wiping away your tears, you walked up to the door lethargically. You slowly opened the door. It was Kali.

"W-What're you doing here?" you asked slowly. "Visiting you." she replied. You left the door open as you sat down on a chair. Kali closed the door, leaving the two of you alone. "How're you holding up?" she said. You took a few moments to respond. "I don't know, Kali." you said as you poured yourself a glass of water. "What do you mean?" she asked as she motioned over to you. "I mean, I don't know." you replied coldly. Kali got taken aback by your coldness. "Y/N what's up with you?" she asked hastily. You felt your heart race and your gut took over. "Oh, I don't know Kali. Maybe the fact that I'm tired?" you said, gulping the glass of water without thinking of facing her. "Tired of what?" she asked. "Tired of pretending! Don't you get it?!" you said, tears welling up in your eyes. You saw Kali's eyes fill with fear and disbelief when you raised your voice a bit, struggling to keep in your tears as you gritted your teeth as you spoke. She remained silent, waiting for you to talk further. "I'm tired of pretending, that I don't love you anymore. All these months we've been separated, I've been trying so hard to forget you. Forget about all the times we had. Forget about the promises we once made! Those nights that I held you close when you were on your breaking point, I miss them Kali! I fucking miss everything. I-" suddenly tears rushed out of your eyes and your voice broke as you couldn't hold it in anymore. "T-Ten years, Jaimini. Ten years we were together. I loved you more than anything. T-Ten-" you get cut off when Kali lunges at you, smashing her lips against yours. You feel your heart melt and your eyes close as reflex, your tears cascading onto her cheek.

Her touch that you'd been wanting back for so long, was finally back. Her soft lips cradled yours as you kissed. Her scent filled your nostrils and you savoured it like your first kiss. This was euphoric. Your hands intertwined by instinct and your breathing went in sync. She pulled you in deeper into the kiss as she tugged on your shirt and put her hand behind your neck. Her lips were just as passionate as you last remembered. Her touch was just as soothing as you remembered it. She pulled away looking straight into your eyes. She cupped your cheek lovingly and caressed them slowly, bringing a faint smile to your face. A moment of silence ensues as your hearts reignited a spark. Ash seeking embers. A bonfire needing kindling. A spark reignited and your hearts pulled the two of you back together in a tight embrace.

"I'm still in love with you too, Y/N."
