Chapter Eight

*Xander's POV*

I could tell Sophie was sad but why did she tell me she was fine? Maybe it was a girl thing....

If someone hurt her, I will physically kill them myself. I sighed and caught up with Austin.

"Dude whats wrong?" he asked.

"Sophie was upset and I think she is hiding something from me" I replied; explaining the situation.

"Xander stop being overprotective, she is fine" Austin said and paused, "It's about the Samantha thing isn't it?".

I lowered my gaze to the floor and didn't respond. Austin sighed, "There was nothing you could do".

"I should have tried!" I said exasperated.

"Why don't you tell Jay and Nick? They could help".

"No!" I said annoyed, "No one else has to know. Austin I told you because I trust you".

"I know and I promised I wouldn't tell anyone". He looked at me, "And I haven't broken it".

"I know and I'm sorry but you know how it is".

Austin sighed, "You hardly know Sophie, try to get to know her and maybe she'll open up".

"Okay I'll try".

"Well good luck, you know how women are" Austin said with a smirk.

I laughed, "Sure".

*Sophie's POV*

FREEDOM, I nearly yelled out, as the schools lunch bell rang.

"So how was the new girl, suss anything weird about her" Maddie said as we walked to our normal table. It was outside and it was a sunny day.

"You mean Allie? She seems fine and she is quite nice, she might be joining us for lunch today".

"Thats cool," she said. We sat down on our seats and were soon greeted by Tim. "Hey, we might have a new member in a squad".

"We don't have a squad Maddie" Tim said rolling his eyes.

"Well I am making one and her name is Allie".

"Oh yeah she is pretty cool, I talked to her in History".

"So is she coming to our table?" I asked

"Better yet, do you think Xander, Jay and Nick will come along?".

"Yeah maybe... hey what about Austin!".

"Ugh what about him".

"You didn't mention his name" Tim pointed out, opening his sandwich from the tinfoil.

"We're partners in Geography".

"That explained it all" I replied and got out my chicken wrap.

"Right! Anyway he kept making creepy pick up lines at me and I literally wanted to run away".

"Oh look there they are now..." Tim trailed off.

Xander, Austin, Jay and Nick walked in and you could hear a pin drop.

If there was some dramatic music, exploding fire and they were wearing black sunglasses, it would totally look like a Matrix movie.

They came over and sat on our table and Maddie groaned when Austin came over and squished himself next to her.

"If you were a fruit, you'd be a fineapple" Austin said wiggling his eyebrows.

"Shut it with the bad pickup lines!" Maddie said and smacked his forehead".
