Mya's POV
I sit on my bed in disbelief at what just happened. Maybe I went over board, but it doesn't change the fact that it was deserved. My parents can't just sit around interrogating Blaze like she's done something wrong. The whole dinner was just going to be mama trying to make her feel like shit for liking me so I decided to speak up first.
I check my phone for the fifth time hoping there would be a text from Blaze. I tried to call her right after she left, but she declined it.
I decide to go downstairs to get some water and immediately I regret it. My moms are standing in the kitchen and both turn to me as soon as I walk in.
"What was that all about?" mama asks. "Your mom took the time to try to help you out and bring everyone together, but you go and act like that?"
"I was just being honest," I shrug. "I knew you were just going to be mean to Blaze all night anyway."
"Why wouldn't I be? Your new attitude is because of her. What kind of drugs did she give you?"
"Drugs? Mya please tell me you're not doing drugs with that girl," my mom says.
"I'm not and she didn't give me anything. I'm not high," I lie. "Her life choices don't have anything to do with me."
"Well I hope for both of your sake you're right because we're drug testing you tomorrow."
"Fine and when I prove you wrong you better apologize to me and Blaze," I roll my eyes and go back upstairs forgetting all about my water.
As soon as I walk into my bedroom my phone starts to ring. I shut my door for some privacy and answer.
"Hi my little druggy," Hanna says jokingly.
"What are you talking about?"
"Blaze told me she couldn't find her cocaine and I definitely remember bringing everything she asked for. Did you take it?"
"Maybe," I giggle. "Well now she definitely knows I did because she found it in my room."
"Ooo what was she doing in your room?"
"Nothing like that," I sigh. "I might have done a line or two before she got here and ended up snapping on my parents. Let's just say I ruined any chances of them not hating her."
"Damn that sucks but it's also kinda hilarious," she laughs. "Is Blaze pissed?"
"Highly," I tell her. "And to make matters worse, my parents want to drug test me tomorrow."
"Look, it's not a big deal. When you get to school just ask one of your friends to pee in a cup for you. You can use it for your test," she informs me. "And don't worry about Blaze. She won't stay mad forever. She likes you too much."
On that note we end our call and I start devising a plan to get some urine tomorrow.
....
"Guess you forgot I exist," Micah says from behind me.
I shut my locker and turn to face him. I can tell he has an attitude just by the look on his face. "It's not like that. I've just been busy."
"Busy getting high I guess," he mumbles.
"Who told you that?"
"I overheard your mom telling my dad that you were high yesterday when Blaze came over. She was pissed."
"Yeah well it was just weed. It's not a big deal," I shrug.
He looks at me like he's questioning everything I just said, but he doesn't say anything.
"Oh come on," I scoff. "You know me. We've been friends forever. Since when have I ever been into drugs?"
I hate lying to him, but he and his dad are too close. He would confide in him resulting in my mom finding out the truth.
"I know, but ever since you started hanging out with Blaze you've been acting different. I mean did you forget you took some random pill?" he reminds me.
"Yes and it was once. Look I just want everyone to stop blaming me coming out of my shell on Blaze. She doesn't control me or what I do. If I want to try new things I will, but I'm not so just drop it."
"Fine," he nods. "I'm dropping it but Mya if you ever need to talk you better come to me."
"Ok dad," I joke. "Is Paige here today?"
"Yeah why?"
"Just uh need to copy her chemistry homework. I'll see you later," I call out to him as I rush to class.
Paige is sitting in her usual spot in the back so I sit right next to her.
"Hey girl," she smiles.
"Hey um I need a favor," I whisper.
"Sure what is it?"
"I need you to pee in a cup for me."
"What? Why?" she asks with wide eyes.
"My moms are being dumb and trying to drug test me because of a little weed. I just need help this once," I smile.
"Are you sure? I don't want to get in trouble."
"I promise they won't know. Please Paige," I beg.
She eventually gives in and agrees to get it to me by the end of the day. I go through the rest of the day with no response from Blaze. I'm starting to think she's not going to ever talk to me again.
The final bell rings and I make my way to the bathroom to find Paige.
"Here," she hands over the cup I provided. "I won't tell Micah either."
"Thank you so much," I hug her. "I owe you."
Hours later my moms are pleased with my results from the at home drug test. I get lectured again about my attitude then I'm sent to my room for the rest of the evening.
I call Blaze and get sent to voicemail yet again. It's only a hour later that I realize my homework isn't a good distraction from my growing irritation. I know it's only been twenty-four hours since that shit show of a dinner, but this is ridiculous. She can't just ice me out.
Against my better judgment and my parents knowledge, I sneak out and make my way to Blaze's condo. My fist bangs on the door a few times and I hear voices on the other side. Blaze opens the door slightly, then rolls her eyes when she sees me.
"What are you doing here?"
"Wow. Hi to you too," I say sarcastically.
"Seriously Mya. What do you want?" she sighs.
"I wanted to see you and to apologize. Now I'm not so sure since you're being an asshole," I cross my arms.
"Go home. You shouldn't be here," she tries to shut the door but I stop her.
"Hey hold up. Why are you being so weird?" I push past her and walk inside to see someone sitting on her couch. "Who is this?"
"This is my assistant Danielle. Danielle I'm sure you know Mya O'Connell," Blaze says blandly.
"Yeah of course," the girl nods. "Nice to meet you."
I nod. "Same."
"We were in the middle of something," Blaze gestures to the laptops and papers spread across her coffee table. "Can we talk some other time?"
I look at her then her assistant then back to her. "Uh yeah fine. Ok."
Blaze opens the door for me and waits for me to walk out before giving me a small wave and shutting the door. I stand there in shock at the fact that she just kicked me out.
"Fuck," I mumble to myself and pull out my phone.
"Hey princess," Hanna says after the third ring.
"Wanna hang out?" I ask impatiently.
"When and where?"
