As they drove back to the mansion they were thinking of how to break the news, it was late and everybody was asleep but they needed to be informed. Scrooge was used to the dark, sketchy city at night but Donald wasn't and was very jumpy. As they drove Scrooge quickly picked up based on Donald's body language that he was worried.
"So... Not in the city during the night very much?" Scrooge asked breaking the thick and heavy silence.
"Not really." Donald said getting distracted from the fear.
"It's not so bad once you realize the good things about it." Scrooge said.
"Like what?" Donald asked raising an eyebrow.
"Well, the lights from different buildings are pretty, cats come out during the night, the beautiful shades of blue fill the city." Scrooge said turning the car toward the mansion. Scrooge and Donald were both worried about Webby, but they were also very worried about having to inform Beakley. They pulled up and Della was standing outside.
"Della?" Donald asked climbing out of the car.
"WHERE WERE Y'ALL?!" Della screamed clearly in distress.
"We were looking for Webby she's missin'." Scrooge said climbing out of the car.
"You should've told me, I was worried sick!" Della said walking over to them. Scrooge nodded and Donald rubbed his arm.
"Come inside, I'm going to call a house meeting." Scrooge said walking in. He knocked on Huey Dewey and Louie's door and awaited a response.
"Who is it?" A tired voice could be heard from the inside, clearly Louie.
"Erm, it's me. Just letting you know I'm calling a house meeting and y'all need to be there for it." Scrooge said outside the door and the slight tapping from his cane could be heard getting distant. Scrooge walked over to Beakley's door and hesitating before knocking. He sighed and knocked.
"Yes?" Beakley opened the door.
"House meeting." Scrooge said.
"This late? Alright." Beakley said walking out. They both walked down the stairs. They all met up in the living room. Huey, Dewey and Louie were sitting on the couch, Della was leaning on the wall next to the TV, Donald was sitting in a chair, and Beakley was just standing there.
"Where's Webby?" Dewey asked looking around. A single drop of sweat rolled down Scrooge's cheek.
"That's what this meeting is about. She didn't come home after running off to visit her friends." Scrooge said reluctantly.
"Where is my grand-daughter?!" Beakley demanded.
"Donald and I looked for her... But we couldn't find her." Scrooge said looking up to Beakley.
"How could you let her run off?!" Beakley yelled at Scrooge.
"I don't want this either 22!" Scrooge yelled back defending himself.
"If you had just watched her she would be with us!" Beakley yelled pointing at Scrooge.
"She always visits her friends!" Scrooge yelled.
"It was getting late! I've told you to bring her home if it's late!" Beakley yelled. Scrooge looked at how to defend himself but couldn't find the words.
"I'M SORRY! I DIDN'T KNOW THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN BEAKLEY!" Scrooge yelled slamming his cane on the ground. Beakley growled.
"Guys! This isn't a good time to be fighting, we need to find Webby!" Dewey said getting in between the two knowing that if it carried on it would get violent. The two backed up a bit agreeing.
"How are we gonna find her?" Beakley asked looking around.
"Missing posters?" Louie asked tapping on his phone.
"How could you be on your phone right now?!" Huey said walking over and looking at what he was doing.
"Hey! I'm posting on Instagram asking if anybody has seen her." Louie said posting a post.
"Know people know she's vulnerable." Huey said facepalming. Everybody was running thoughts but everybody was exhausted as well.
"This isn't a good time to be brainstorming." Della said rubbing her eyes.
"Della's right, it's late. We can brainstorm first thing in the morning." Donald said leading the boys back to their room. Beakley sighed and returned to her room. Della and Donald both returned to their rooms as well but after everything Beakley had yelled at Scrooge, Scrooge felt guilty. So he went back out and knocked on every. single. house. Eventually, he had one street left, exhausted but determined. He knocked on each door getting the same response he had been getting all night. He got to one house. Grass up to his knees, blacked-out windows, and a car that had clearly gotten into a bad crash. A shiver ran down his spine as he walked over to the door. He knocked and waited for a response, he heard struggling and mumbling then the door opened.
"No, I don't wanna join your church." The big man said closing the door but was stopped when Scrooge's foot got in the way.
"No, I'm lookin' for a little girl, shes about 2 feet tall, short hair, pink bow?" Scrooge asked. He got suspicious when the man looked a little startled but then answered.
"Never seen her." He began closing the door again but Scrooge walked in.
"Get outta my house pal." The man said angrily. Scrooge shot a glare at him.
"May I check around your house then?" Scrooge asked narrowing his eyes at him.
"Ever heard of privacy old man?" The guy asked crossing his arms.
"You don't deserve it." Scrooge said looking away.
"What did you just say? Oh, you're gonna get it-" He was cut off when banging on the garage door could be heard. Scrooge shot a glare at him then walked over to his garage door. He opened the door and looked in. He quickly grabbed Webby out and turned around to look at the man.
"How sick can somebody be?" Scrooge said untieing Webby's beak.
"If you EVER lay another finger on a feather on this girl's head, I won't hesitate to kill you." Scrooge said growling at the man.
"You?" The man asked chucking.
"Me." Scrooge said grabbing a gun out of his pocket. This caught the man off guard and he quieted down.
"You won't get away with this. Webby get in the car." Scrooge said still pointing the gun at the man and grabbing his phone out. Webby nodded and climbed into the car.
"What're you doing old man?" The man asked.
"Calling the cops." Scrooge said putting the phone up to his ear.
Louie walked downstairs for a cup of water and on his way down peaked into Beakley's room to check on her. She was sound asleep, Checked on Donald and Della too. He peaked into Scrooge's room, to his surprise it was empty. He continued down the stairs and filled a glass with water. He got a bit worried when he saw Scrooge's top hat sitting on the counter. He grabbed his phone and called Scrooge. It picked up to his surprise.
"Uncle Scrooge?!" Louie asked.
"Not a good right now Lad." Scrooge said while hanging up. The cops pulled up to the man's house and the man got arrested. Scrooge answered some questions and climbed into the car with Webby. Webby immediately latched onto him.
"I'm sorry I didn't find you sooner Lass." Scrooge said hugging her.
"What did he do to you?" Scrooge asked while rubbing webby's head feathers.
"He didn't hurt me too bad, only some bruises. He more just scared me and made me eat dog food." Webby said.
"Did you eat any food during the 27 hours you were there?" Scrooge asked backing his car out of the driveway. Webby shook her head no.
"Let's get you home Lass." Scrooge said placing Webby in the passenger seat.
