If you read the last chapter you might've noticed an unexpected duckling didn't make it, I wanted to draw a little more attention to that because I love hurting y'all. :) So, a small portion of this chapter is gonna be about that baby. Also, I did a little thinking, they're ducks. Why did I make Goldie have live birth? So, I decided when Goldie laid the second egg they didn't notice it wasn't gonna make it and that leads up to a huge shock once the egg hatches to a small weak little fella who tries his best to survive but doesn't make it. >:)

They had just arrived home after Goldie had laid her two eggs. Nobody was expecting a second egg but they had it so they were gonna take care of it. Goldie carefully carried in her eggs and placed them in a nursery they had previously built. The nursery connected from their room so they had full access to the eggs. Goldie placed them in the crib and smiled.

"Unexpected little guy." Goldie said looking at Scrooge then back at the egg they didn't know was even there.

"Explains why you were so big though." Scrooge said walking over and carefully wrapping an arm around Goldie's neck. He gently planted a kiss on her forehead and fixed her hair a bit. It was quite late and they needed to get to bed.

"Time for bed?" Scrooge asked as he grabbed a hairbrush and began brushing her hair which was somewhat ragged after laying the eggs. She chuckled softly.

"Time for bed." She said and stretched a bit then walked over to their bed and climbed into it. Scrooge looked in the crib and smiled at his two little eggs. He walked over and joined Goldie in bed.

(DONT YALL JUST LUV TIME SKIPS? OH, YOU DO? HERE'S ONE TO WHEN THEY'RE HATCHING THEN.)

Scrooge sat up from a nightmare at about 3:40 in the morning. He climbed out of bed and went to open his door, but due to instincts, he checked the crib. He walked over and gently rubbed the side of one of the eggs, it wasn't smooth like it usually is it had a weird edge feeling to it. He gently picked up the egg and moved it to the bathroom. He switched on the light and saw a crack on the side.

"Ah- Goldie?" He said holding the egg in one arm and gently shaking Goldie awake. Her eyes slowly fluttered open but when she saw he was holding an egg she shot up.

"What's wrong?" She asked taking the egg and scanning it with her eyes. Scrooge switched the bedroom light on so Goldie could see the crack.

"Oh! Arabelle is hatching!" She said excitedly and hopped out of bed. She set the egg on her bed and went to check on the other. She and Scrooge had previously picked out a name for the young boy, and they chose Clyde. She grabbed the egg out and saw nothing on him so she gently placed it back in. She ran over to Arabelle and sat next to the egg. Scrooge had wrapped the base of the egg with a blanket to help hold it steady and help keep her warm. Slowly but surely the crack grew until...

"Lookey there." Goldie heard Scrooge say gently from behind her. She turned around and saw the top of the egg gone and Arabelle's little head peeking out. She quickly ran over and looked at Arabelle. At this point, Scrooge had gotten Beakley to come to see. But quickly everybody else woke up when they heard the ear-shattering cries of a baby. Huey, Dewey, Webby, Donald, And Della all shot up, but Louie just groaned and held a pillow over his head. Scrooge, Beakley, and Goldie all jumped when they heard Arabelle start crying.

"Omigosh!" Della said happily and looked at Arabelle. She was small and fragile, yet she seemed strong and sturdy. Della watched as the triplets, Webby, and Donald all walked in the room. Goldie gently reached into the little nest of blankets Scrooge had made and picked Arabelle up gently. She rocked Arabelle gently and whispered comforting words to her. Eventually, Arabelle calmed down and slowly began falling asleep. Louie walked in and looked at Arabelle.

"..Ew babies.." Louie said narrowing his eyes. They all shot glares at him and Huey elbowed him angrily. Huey walked over and looked at Arabelle with starey eyes. Webby ran over and climbed onto Huey's shoulders to get a better look at Arabelle.

"Hey there! I'm Webby!" Webby said gently waving at the sleeping Arabelle. Donald was staring at Clyde's egg with a bit of a worried expression, yes Arabelle had just hatched which was great! But Clyde and Arabelle were both laid at the same time which means he should've hatched by now. It ended up Clyde didn't hatch that night but he hatched the next day instead. Scrooge woke up the next morning and stretched a bit. He walked over to the crib to check on Arabelle and saw Clyde laying down weakly. If Scrooge hadn't seen his little chest moving he would've thought he was dead. He picked up Clyde and heard his weak little breathing.

"Goldie?" He said in a somewhat urgent tone which woke Goldie up. Goldie sat up and rubbed her eyes.

"Yes, Scroogie?" She asked and sat up.

"Clyde hatched, but I think the lad is sick." He said walking over to Goldie gently holding Clyde against his chest. Goldie's heart dropped as she took Clyde, he barely weighed anything and he looked as if he was dead. She listened to his breathing. He doesn't sound sick? So what's wrong with the little guy? Right then Beakley knocked on the door then entered the room.

"Good morning Mister and misses McDuck." Beakley said setting the tray with two cups of tea down on a table. She looked over and saw them holding a small little duckling and they both looked worried. She walked over and saw the little guy. Beakley looked at Scrooge for some sort of context.

"I guess his egg hatched while we were sleeping, I found him like this when I woke up." Scrooge said gently handing Clyde to Beakley. Beakley scanned the little guy's body.

"There's nothing wrong with him so we shouldn't take him to the hospital. Don't panic, I'm sure he's just tired from breaking out of his egg." Beakley said giving Clyde to Goldie and walking out of the room. Goldie and Scrooge shared worried expressions.
