Naruto pov

We walk around the village for a while looking for the kitten. Me being completely silent unless I absolutely have to answer, even then I make it as short as possible. I hear a small "meow" coming from behind a bush and walk towards it with Sakura. We move the bush aside a bit and spot the kitten.

"Awwe !!" I look over at Sakura-chan to see her eyes lit up with stars in them. I look back over at the kitty with a small smile. Sakura goes to grab it but it hisses and scratches her hand making Sakura yelp and yank her hand back rubbing it gently.

"Psst psst psst, come here little guy, I wont hurt you" I reach over slowly and start rubbing behind it's right ear smiling a bit. "There ya go, see I wont hurt you. Come on we gotta take you back to your owner" "meow" it starts licking my palm making me giggle.

I pick up the small cat and hold it gently in my arms while scratching behind it's ears making it purr and rub up against me. I turn around smiling and look up to see Sasuke with his hands in his pocket looking bored, Sakura glaring at me with her hands balled up into fist, and Kakashi-sensei reading.

We start heading back to the Hokage tower. Every time Sakura-chan tries petting the kitten it scratches her. "I don't get it, why does it let you pet it but not me ??" I just shrug not really feeling it today. "Meeoowww" it suddenly jumps up onto my chest and licks my cheek, jaw, and neck making me giggle a bit.

Kakashi goes to knock on the door but hesitates looking over at me. I stare back a bit confused then he knocks. We hear a faint "come in" before he pushes the door open. We walk in and a man around his mid-thirties wearing all black and shoulder length black hair who looks like he hasn't slept in days walks over.

"Hey fluffy. Where were you hmm ??" He takes the kitten and I smile "behind a bush" he nods "thanks" "your welcome, he's really cute" "she" "oh" he then walks off to pay the fee.

Granny Tsunade looks down at a paper then back up at us. "You guys have a C-ranked mission, just help out an old farmer down east." We nod and walk out again. Half way there Kakashi turns towards me again "you sure you're ok Naruto ??" I look up at Kakashi-sensei and nod once "yea, I'm fine Sensei"

Once we get to the farm the old man greets us. He walks over to us and once he sees me he starts glaring at me for a second before turning towards Kakashi and gives us different jobs to do. Kakashi is raking up all of the fallen leaves across the large yard, Sakura-chan is planting beans in a small shallow pond, Sasuke is chopping wood, and I'm taking the weeds out of the crops.

After an hour or so the old man walks out of his house with a tray holding some cups of water but, walks up to me first. 'that's a first' "yea, what's he up to ??" I hear Kurama growl lowly but ignore him. "Here you fucking demon" he holds out the cup but when I reach for it he drops it. I barley manage to catch it as he walks off to give the others some water.

I look down at the dirty cup holding a light brown liquid. I furrow my brows a bit 'why is it brown ??' I lean in a bit and smell it. 'Is that-' I sniff it again 'toilet water ??'

I sigh and dump the water out then just put the cup off to the side continuing to pluck the weeds out. 'everything hurts so much' I hold back my tears sighing again. After a few minutes I look over at the old man who's sitting in an old rocking chair watching us. I stand up and dust my knees and hands off then start walking up to him.

He turns to look at me then immediately starts glaring. "Umm .... I-I'm done with the weeds" I curse myself for studdering as he continues to glare. "Hmm, go clean the roof" "the roof ??" I raise a confused brow "Yes. The roof. Birds shit on it every day. I'm sure it's dirty, now go clean it" "y-yes sir" he hands me a bucket that I quickly fill with soap and water and grab the broom that the old man throws at me.

I walk to the side then up the wall to the roof and start dipping the broom into the bucket to start scrubbing away at the roof. About two thirds through it I slip and fall on my ass. I groan loudly at the pain that shoots up my spine but get up and continue anyway. About two hours later we finish and start heading off to the Hokage tower again. I can feel Kakashis eye on me every now and then but ignore it.

Once at the tower Kakashi hesitates to knock again. "Come in" we walk in and get told that we can have the rest of the day off, we just walk out together. "You guys wanna go to Ichirakru ?? My treat" I shake my head "no, I'm not hungry" "do you wanna go spar with me dobe ??" "No teme, it's the twenty-fifth, I have something important to do"

Me and Kakashi make eye contact for a split second before I look away again "maybe next time Sasuke" I then turn the corner and walk off towards Ino's flower shop. Once there I walk in "hey Ino" "oh, hey Naruto !! How've you been ??" I smile softly "I'm doing ok, I just got the rest of the day off" "nice, I have a mission in a few minutes. Once you leave I gotta lock up"

"I'll make it quick then" she nods once and I walk over to the rose section. Kneeling down I carefully pick four yellow roses, two red ones, and one orange one. I arrange them so that the yellow ones surround the red then the orange one right smack in the middle of the red ones. I stand up and walk towards Ino.

She carefully grabs the flowers then looks up at me wiggling her eyebrows. "oOo~ are they for a special someone Naruto~ ??" "Y-Yea you can say that" I rub the back of my neck looking up to the side and bite my lip gently. "Who's the lucky girl ?? And what color do I wrap them in ??" "Black" "black ?? Why not try pink or purple ?? She'll like the contrast" "black" she raises a brow "alright I guess"

She then carefully wraps them then picks a white ribbon to hold it in place. "It'll be $12.42" I take my wallet out and hand her the money, shoving my wallet back into my pocket then grabbing the flowers. "Thanks Ino, see ya later" "bye Naruto !!" I walk out and walk towards the K.I.A memorial stone. I kneel, then gently place the flowers down on top of it. A small lonesome tear then falls out of my eye and rolls down my cheek.

"Happy birthday .... Dad"
