I tried to concentrate to finish up the paperwork. But, there was something that just wouldn't let me work.

"I thought you took two days off work, it's not been two days and you're back." Clara entered my room with two cups of coffee in her hand, "Have a drink."

I took one from her left hand. "If I take too much time off from work, my work will also pile up."

Clara narrowed her eyes and looked closely at me, "Your eyes are like you have been stung by a bee."

I tried my hardest to cover my swollen eyes with make-up.

"Is it true?" I took my mirror, "Geez."

"Did you get stung by a bee on vacation?" Clara curious, "I thought you went to the beach not into the forest."

"I went to the beach, Clara. It's probably just a mosquito spike." As much as possible made her stop curious.

"If you get bitten by a mosquito, you'll get one swollen eye, not both Laura."

Since when did Clara act like a cop interrogating me.

"Maybe it took two bite." I said while sipping coffee and put it on the table.

"Did something go wrong between you?"

I raised my eyebrow, "Who?"

"You and Alex. You guys are acting strange today. It's very unusual for you to come early, usually you're late. And, Alex is in a bad mood today. He doesn't hesitate to scold anyone who makes mistakes, including Jennifer who was late. His face is gloomy, everyone talk about his bruised face."

"You guys were out on vacation but both of you faces hurt." She continued.

"I don't know where his face get bruised and I want to finish my work." I said while pushed Clara's body out.

"Wait a minute Clay, I'm not done talking." I closed and locked the door. "Wait, I'm here to say something. because I talk too much I forget." She knocked, "Clay? There's meeting in five minutes."

I had planned not to meet him, I was even willing to get up early to stay away from trouble and meet him. And he easily ruined my plan.

I did my makeup again to cover my eyes that cried all night.

Last night, after Alex slept. I left him. Rio was willing to take me home. Actually, I was still tired, but I didn't want to leave work neither did Alex. I didn't know when he came home, but he was already in office.

"Laura Clay?" Clara's voice snapped me out of my mind. I forgot she was still standing in front of the door, "Come on, let's go there together." I unlocked it and came out.

"Your makeup is pretty much covering your eyes now." She says.

"Sorry, for earlier."

"It's okay, I just thought something happened between you. How wrong I was." She said awkwardly. "If you want to tell me, I'm ready to listen anytime." She said again.

I muttered, "I know."

She smiled.

I saw the others had gone to the meeting room. I tried to get behind them, not to be seen.

Unfortunately, I couldn't hold back my eyes to find his figure. I saw Alex was sitting, his eyes continued to scan the room looking for someone.

The meeting started, I chose to sit in the back. All employees were present, the easier it was for me to hide.
