Axel's pov

"Will you just please answer me".

I closed my eyes and resisted the urge to bash my face through the window. Or my brothers.

"There's nothing to say Colin".

"Bullshit!" He exclaimed scowling at me from the couch I had just helped him sit on.

At his sudden outburst Rachel appeared in the doorway but must have seen our identical scowls because she didn't bother to properly step into the living room. Just opted to stand in the background probably to intervene if we started to argue really badly.

"You know something and you aren't telling me. Us" He pointed at Rachel who simply raised an eyebrow at him mouthing, "The audacity" at him.

I snorted and Colin glared.

"There's nothing I have got that would interest you" I lied glancing away from him.

"Lies" My youngest brother seethed struggling to get up from the couch but when he realized that moving his casted leg hurt he sat back with a defeated sigh.

"Let's not forget who the grown up in this scenario is. Yeah?" I snapped back my temper flaring up.

Colin merely scowled at me choosing not to snap back this time.

Good choice or I was going to be guilt tripping him this time. Something I had learned from my mother. I had learned long ago that the best way to control my wild brothers was to use the techniques of parenting my mother had used on me and them before dying. Whenever I pulled a trick from her book things went smoothly.

Just then the doorbell rang and Rachel reluctantly excused herself to go and open the door.

The two of us were silent as she opened the door and instead of the familiar babble of the boys and Gabby there's silence on her end.

A whole minute passed but there's no sound and the door isn't closed either.

"Rach? Who is it?" I called with furrowed eyebrows.

"Get the hell out" She suddenly screeched startling me.

Colin jumped in his seat surprised and I quickly dashed out shooting him at look to stay still on the couch.

Once in the foyer though I wished I hadn't left the room and should have probably continued arguing with Colin.

Because standing there in front of me leaning against the door as my girlfriend struggled to close it on his face was the one person I had hoped wouldn't get wind of the tree fall incident.

With the cheesiest grin on his face he swept one arm to the side, familiar blue eyes imploring me to not do what I was about to do.

"Hello son".

"Dad" I glowered back, "You look good" I noticed. Last time I had seen him he had made national headlines by doing a drug induced strip tease for a book club in an old age home. Least to say my brothers had been so embarrassed they all refused to go to school for a whole week.

"Uh yeah" He sheepishly scratched the small amount of stubble he had failed to shave on his chin. My father hated facial hair so I wondered where the new style was coming from. Not that I cared or anything.

Rachel was still struggling against his tight grip on the door trying to shut him out but was failing miserably.

My dad shot her a dirty look, "Tell her to stop" He turned back to me and I appraised him with a lazy look.

"Rachel kick him out, please" I mumbled and Rachel curled her lips before letting the door go. My dad smiled for a second. The next second it was wiped clean off when my girlfriend swiped a stray baseball bat from the floor and pointed it at my father threateningly.
