Calvin's pov
"Where's Kelsey?" Colin asked strolling into the kitchen where Jai and I sat watching Gabby eat her spaghetti.
"Home" I sighed glancing at him before turning back to the young child who was trying roll the spaghetti with utter concentration on her face. Jai took the fork from her and began demonstrating it for her.
"Home? No she isn't here" Colin shook his head tapping his foot on the marble floor in impatience.
"Yah I said home" I shot him a funny look as Gabby finally managed to roll spaghetti and Jai cheered as she slurped it into her mouth giggling.
"Home? Like I said she isn't here anywhere" Colin snapped and realization dawned on me as I snapped my fingers nodding at him.
"Oh by home I meant her own home as in the apartment she shares with her sister".
Colin's face fell as he dropped on the chair beside me with slumped up shoulders and I frowned.
"Hey, what's wrong? Why did you need her?".
"Oh its nurhting".
I raised an eyebrow.
Nurthing????
"Liar liar-".
"Pants on fire" Gabby finished making Jai snigger quietly and high five her.
"You are a bad influence on her" I pointed at Jai before turning to Colin.
"And where have you been for the last three days?".
Colin flushed pink catching Jai's full attention on him which was something not quite possible.
"I uh- with Tris...?" He mumbled and I titled my head waiting for him to elaborate.
He sighed squirming under our intense gazes.
"Doing homework. Finishing summer homework. And I need Kelsey's help with an assignment".
"What? But school opens in like two days and you still haven't finished homework" Jai asked in a shocked voice and considering this is Jai whose shocked that someone didn't do schoolwork you can just imagine how dire and lazy Colin's situation is.
"Look I wanted to enjoy my holidays. The only reason we get off school is to relax and have fun and not to slave around doing schoolwork. It's so absurd. Like we already do enough in school but noooo. They want us to die and so we must do work at home too. I'm literally getting white hair and above all who even needs to learn this stupid stuff like what good is finding x in maths going to do to me? Or who cares about what year Shakespeare was born. I'm going to play professional baseball later on. We literally have the forms for my college applications ready and I just think this is stupid. School is stupid. The world is stupid. Life is stupid" Colin exploded and by the end of his rant he was taking deep breaths his chest rising and falling with every inhale and exhale, his cheeks a bright pink colour and glasses which he only wore when reading were steamed up.
"Bruh, you got some serious problems" Jai whistled grabbing a napkin and telling Gabby to sit still as he cleaned the spaghetti sauce off her face.
"And I think you're way past the 'this isn't going to help me in future so I don't need to learn it' stage" I added.
"What assignment is it?" I asked.
"Maths".
"Ew no".
"Yea go to Kelsey's" Jai agreed and Colin rolled his eyes letting out a frustrated sigh.
"Can't. She's with her sister remember?! And her bratty sister hates us and if we go within 10 mile radius of her apartment unless one of us preferably Calvin-sorry- dies we can't even show up or she will either call the cops or shoot us in the legs from the distance and probably the latter as she's a certified pysco" Colin grumbled in an irritated voice.
