I stayed at home for a few days to let my twisted ankle heal, and Anna and Juliet came every day. We told my parents that I tripped in the crowded market, and twisted my ankle. Of course, they believed us, as twisting your ankle was nothing unusual.
And I could not stop thinking about that assassin.
Alex came and visited me, too. He brought some fresh beautiful flowers for me, and I thanked him politely. Anna and Juliet kept giving me this cheeky look and I just rolled my eyes at them when Alex was not looking.
“Would you like a walk in your garden with me?” Alex asked, “It seems like your leg has been better, so I guess it will be good for your ankle if you walk for a bit; after all, you have been sitting all day long in the past few days.”
I was trying to kindly refuse, using my friends’ presence as an excuse, telling him I would rather stay with my friends, but Juliet interrupted me, “(Yn), I think it’s starting to get late; Juliet and I will go now. Take care and see you!” she pulled Anna to her feet and went away after Anna’s quick goodbye. They glanced back before they disappeared through the door. I cursed silently. They did this on purpose, didn’t they?
“Alex,” I said, “I’m feeling tired. Maybe we’ll have a walk another day.”
Alex’s face fell, “Alright then… I’ll help you up to your room perhaps?”
“Thanks Alex,” I stood up carefully, and Alex helped me go up to my room. I sat down on the bed.
“I think I’ll go now, I’ll visit you another day,” Alex said, “Goodbye (Yn), get well soon.”
“Bye Alex, thank you,” I replied, and Alex kissed the spot close to my lips after checking there was no one around. I flinched a bit but Alex did not seem to notice. He winked at me before leaving.
I felt annoyed.

The next day, Anna and Juliet came as usual.
“(Yn) did anything happen yesterday?” Juliet asked once we were alone.
“You wish!” I shot her a nasty look, “How could you leave me alone like that?”
“We gave you the best opportunity ever!” Juliet said.
“(Yn) you’re into boys aren’t you?” Anna looked at me weirdly. I got what she meant and laughed a bit.
“Of course I am!” I said, “I just haven’t met the right one, like what I’ve said!”
“Seriously Alex is such a charming gentleman!” Juliet said, “I bet every girl who sees him will have a crush on him, but they don’t all get a chance with him! And you are the one he likes but you’re rejecting him? You’re so lucky you know!”
“I really don’t like him like that,” I said, and remembered what he did to annoy me yesterday, “My heart doesn’t race, my breath doesn’t get caught in my throat, and I don’t have that weird feeling in my stomach when I’m with him.”
“(Yn), why are you smiling so creepily?” Juliet asked suspiciously, “And you sounded like you have had that feeling before.”
I realized I was thinking about that assassin again.
“Do you have a crush on someone?” Anna asked suddenly, “You have been acting a bit weird lately and always smile to yourself these few days, after that—” she froze for a split second and gasped.
“What?” Juliet looked at her with a confused expression.
“You – don’t tell me you like that guy who saved us!” Anna exclaimed.
I did not know what to say, and I could not help blushing.
Juliet sucked in some air and exploded, “WHOA (YN)!”
I jumped, “What?”
“You barely know him!” Anna told me disapprovingly, “You don’t even know how he looks!”
“I know, but I just don’t know why, it’s like he has this aura around him which lures me to him,” I admitted.
“What if he is a bad person?” Anna questioned.
“But he saved us!”
“Assassins are dangerous,” Anna pointed out.
“But it’s not like she’s going to see him again,” Juliet patted Anna’s shoulder, “Even if she does, she’s not going to recognize him!”
“I guess you have a point Juliet,” Anna said.
The thought of never seeing him again saddened me. I looked down and they noticed my change of mood.
“Come on (Yn), let’s talk about something else,” Juliet said, “How’s your ankle?”
“I can basically walk by myself now,” I told them, “But have to walk slowly.”
“Good!” Anna smiled.
“Maybe we can go to the market soon,” Juliet’s face lit up, “There’s a new boutique and Anna and I have been waiting for your ankle to heal so we can pay a visit to it together!”
“Really?” I said, and the idea made me happy again. I missed going out.
“We’ll buy you a dress to cheer you up,” Anna smiled at me, “So you’d better heal fast!”

A couple of days more, my ankle was almost completely healed, so I went to the market with Anna and Juliet. We had a great time trying on pretty dresses, and finally they bought me this blue and white dress. It was a long light blue dress with a white ruffled neckline which hung loosely around my shoulders, with some white details here and there. I wore it instantly, and I loved it very much.
We walked out of the shop and some necklaces in the shop opposite caught Juliet’s eyes. Anna went in with her, as my ankle was getting a bit tired, so I sat down on the bench outside the shop.
I looked around, feeling great in my new dress and being in the public again. That was when a guy in the distance caught my eyes. He was staring straight at me, but looked away and blushed when he saw me looking back at him. He just looked away for a brief second, and then he looked up to smile at me. He approached me slowly.
He looked definitely stunning. He was very tall and lean; I could tell his body was well-toned under the white shirt and tight beige trousers he was wearing, and he had very pretty forest green eyes and pale skin. He had soft blond hair falling down across his forehead, which I had an urge to touch. He also owned a pair of plump lips that looked very familiar to me. He was the most gorgeous person I had ever seen. And the weird thing was that, my heart began to thump harshly in my ribcage and I found breathing a bit challenging to me right now. My stomach was doing somersaults as he came closer and closer.
“Hi,” he said, and his voice was somehow familiar, and attractive, “Mind if I sit here?”
I smiled at him and moved slightly to let him sit down. I felt his arm brushed lightly against my arm through the material of his shirt and my thin sleeve, which sent tingles up my arm. I blushed slightly. He did not seem to notice, as he was looking at my previously injured ankle. It was strange, but I brushed it off. I was mesmerized by his beauty.
“You look beautiful,” he looked at my newly bought dress, and I was glad that I was wearing this instead of the old brown dress I was wearing a couple of moments ago, “What is your name? I bet it’s as beautiful as you.”
I blushed again, “Thank you,” I said, merely above a whisper, “My name is (Yn).”
“Nice name,” he grinned, “I’m John, nice to meet you.” he held out his hand and we shook hands. The instant our hands touched, an electric shock was sent through my body and it was like I could feel sparks exploding. I noticed John smiled when our fingertips touched.
We talked for a while, and I found John really fascinating. Not only was he beautiful, he was a very funny and kind person. Even though I had just known him for a few minutes, I already liked him so much.
“Hey (Yn),” suddenly Juliet’s voice rang behind me, “We have ju– oh!”
I turned my head and saw Anna and Juliet coming out from the shop, and they were carrying some paper bags filled with what they had just bought. They froze for a moment, looking from my smiling face to John’s, and then grinned at each other cheekily.
I stood up, and John followed, “John, these are my best friends Anna and Juliet,” I introduced them, “And this is John.”
“Hi,” John smiled politely, “Nice to meet you.”
Anna and Juliet stared and grinned at him like two idiots, scanning him up and down, “Nice to meet you too,” they finally said. I rolled my eyes at them.
“Well, well, see who’s there?” a high-pitched voice suddenly rose behind us, and I looked around to see my enemies, Alice, Rosemary and Catherine approaching us.
