Adjusting to life when it had progressed a century was hard for Cassie, with technology updates and history events to catch up on making it even harder. Steve was adjusting too, at a faster pace than his sister, but he was still the man out of time.

Cassie hadn't seen Steve in a few weeks. Truth be told, she was trying to disconnect herself from everything. It made it easier to survive, especially now. Sometimes she wished she would've gone down with the plane and stayed there, there was no place for her in the 21st century. But Nick Fury seemed to think otherwise.

He had been the one to make sure she was okay following being defrosted, despite how everyone told her about his icy heart, she knew there was a warm side to him. One he had been subconsciously showing to her the entire time.

So if she wouldn't stay for herself, she would stay for him and the people who needed her help.
