A/N
Hey there. So I know I've not updated in a while but I'm back! But I'll only be updating once every week instead of every two days.Enjoy all you awesome people!
(next update: 15th May)
After successfully sleeping off the hangover, it was Sunday. I took a quick shower, brushed my teeth and put on a fresh pair of clothes. White shorts, blue buttoned shirt and sneakers.
"Morning." I greeted everyone as I passed the kitchen.
"You obviously feel better." John said with a smirk.
"Yeah." I said opening the front door.
"Nah. I'll grab something on my way." I said, before closing the door.
My car was on the right side of the garage. I climbed in and put in the key, and started the car. Slowly, I backed out and was on the road to Cassady's house. I parked by the park, a couple of blocks away. From there I called her.
It rang three times before she answered, "Hey, Tristan." She greeted.
"Hey." I greeted back, "How did you sleep?" I asked.
"Good, I guess." She answered. I was starting to get suspicious.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"It's nothing. Just forget about it." She hissed. There was a moment of silence, "Oh gosh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to sound like that." She said. There was sadness in her voice. I didn't like that.
"No, I'm sorry," I said, there was something bothering her, and I'm going to find out what. "I'll leave it," I lied. "But only if you come down to the park and have a ice cream with me."
"Fine." She sighed. "I'll be right down." She said, I heard her get up before she hung up.
I put my phone in my pocket and made my way to the trunk, where the picnic blanket of the previous picnic was located. I took it and found a nice spot under a tree. After spreading it I went to the ice cream cart, only a few feet away, and ordered a ice cream for Cassady and I.
I sat down on the blanket and waited. After a while she showed up. It was a hot day. She wore a bikini top with one of those see through sweaters that reveals one shoulder. And denim shorts. Her hair was braided over her one shoulder. There were bags under her eyes. She flashed me a weak smile before coming over and sitting beside me. I handed her the ice cream I bought her. "Thanks." She said taking it.
I brushed a few strings of loose hair out of her eyes and placed a light kiss on her lips. She responded a little and I pulled away.
"Thanks, I needed that." She said with a smile. She snuggled closer and I put my arm around her waist. She rested her head on my chest and we ate our ice cream, which already started to melt in the summer sun of Miami.
Afterwords I threw away the cups and we laid down, staring at the tree's branches. Cassady sat up looking troubled after a while. I sat up as well, "What's wrong?" I asked her.
"Today is my brother's birthday." She said lowering my gaze. I remembered what she said about her brother at our midnight picnic.
"Oh," was all I managed to say. This was the reason Cassady looked so sad.
"Yeah," She said with a slight chuckle. But it was soon replaced with sadness once more.
I leaned in to kiss her, as my lips brushed against hers, my phone rang and both of our heads dropped. Our foreheads resting against each other's, I laughed slightly, bringing my phone to view. John? I stood up and answered, "Hey man. What's up?"
"You need to get to the house. Now." He said, out of breath. A slight wave of terror washed over me.
"What's wrong?" I asked on a more serious note.
"No time to explain! You need to get here," he said.
"But-" I started but the call ended.
"Tristan?" Cassady said. I turned around, "Who was that? What's wrong?" she asked.
My mouth felt dry, I swallowed, "It was, uh, John," I stuttered.
"What did he say? You look like you saw a ghost." She said, standing up as well.
"He just said I need to get to the house. Now." I said and she swallowed loudly. Cassady picked up the blanket and held it with her one hand, grabbing my wrist with the other.
"C'mon we need to get there." She said loading the blanket in the trunk.
"I'll go drop you off at your house." I said getting into the drivers seat.
"No. I'm coming with you." She said closing her door.
"It might be dangerous," I said starting the car.
"You don't have time to waste, my house is in the opposite direction. Step on it, we're going to your house." She said looking straight forward.
I hesitated, "Fine." I said, stepping on the gas.
When we arrived at the house I didn't see anything wrong. I told Cassady to stay put. She nodded and I ran to the door. Before I opened it I peeked through the window. Nothing was out of place, so I slowly opened the door and walked in as quietly as I could. The lights were off and the curtains Mrs Olsen had made it look like night.
Slowly I made my way to the middle of the room. As I stopped someone jumped on my back. I grabbed the mystery person by the back of his shirt and threw him over my shoulder and he landed on his back with a puff. I kinda knocked out his breath.
The lights turned on and the air caught in my throat. I went down on my knees next to him, "Tony!? Are you okay? What were you thinking?"
"Tony?" A familiar voice said.
I looked up, "Mom?" Then my eyes went to her left, "Dad?" They ran to me. I got up and greeted them while Tony got up and coughed here and there. I turned to Tony and hugged him tight, "Don't ever sneak up on me again," I said pulling away.
"Sorry I interrupted you and Cassady's date," John said from the corner. My eyes widened.
"Mom, dad? There's someone I want you to meet," I said walking to the door.
I walked up to the car and helped Cassady out, "What's going on? I thought there was a emergency?" She whispered as she came to her feet.
"John just said that to get me here faster," I whispered back as we turned around. "Mom, dad? This is Cassady. My girlfriend." I said, and Cassady blushed. I turned back to her, "Cassady? This is my parents." She shook their hands.
"Nice to finally meet you." They both said.
"We headed a lot about you." My mom said. Which was weird because I never breathed a word about her to my parents. I chose to shrug it off.
"What are you guys doing here?" I asked as we all walked back to the house.
"We promised we would visit and we have a birthday present for you." My mom said.
"My birthday is this Saturday. That's a few days away." I said.
"It's a early birthday present." My dad answered.
"Okay what is it?" I asked as we all sat down in the living room.
When they told me what it was, my jaw dropped.
