We stopped at the store, "Hang tight, I'll only take a minute." I said to John as I climbed out of the car. He just nodded and I ran into the store.
"Hey!" A girl yelled, when I turned around my jaw dropped when I saw who it was.
"Cassady!" I yelled back, giving her a big hug. "What are you doing here?" I asked when we pulled apart.
"I was busy surfing. But then I saw you and decided to say 'hi'." She said awkwardly scratching the back her neck. "That sounded a lot less stalker-like in my head." She continued. "What are you doing here?" She asked, trying to change the subject.
"I came to buy a surfboard and a wetsuit." I said.
"You surf?" She asked.
I so badly wanted to say yes and impress her but, "No, I'm actually a beginner." I said instead.
"I can totally teach you!" She said very quickly.
"Are you sure? I really don't want to be any trouble." I said.
"No, I want to. Maybe we can hang out after." She said rubbing my left arm. Her touch left a tingling feeling behind.
"That sounds awesome." I said, trying not to sound desperate. "Can you help me pick out a good board?" I asked and she laughed before nodding and we went through the boards.
"Here." She said taking out one of the boards, "This brand's boards are always the best." I took it and smiled. It was a wooden board with the logo printed on the top
"Wow, thanks." She just flashed me another smile. "And a wetsuit?" I asked and her eyes widened.
"Yeah sure." She said and we went to that department. "Here try this one on, I think it'll fit." She handed me two, the one just slightly bigger than the first. I nodded and went into the fitting room.
"Are they suppose to be so tight?" I asked as I got it on.
"Let me see." She said and I stepped out. She pouted and nodded, the way people do when they approve. I let out a sigh of relief and flashed her a smile. "It looks great on you. Is it the first one or the second?" She asked and I had to think about it for a while.
"The second." I said, "I think." She just laughed.
"Let's go hit the water." She said and I quickly payed for the gear, before following her out.
I walked up to John and said, "I'm going with Cassady. See you at home I guess." He just nodded and took off.
Cassady locked her arm with mine and we walked to the beach. We got to a beach, and there was no one else around. "This is the place I come to think." She said looking at the water, then she looked at me, "I've never really shown anyone this place." I gave her a smile and she returned it.
I took a look around and said, "I get why this is your safe place. It's beautiful."
I looked back at her and she said, "Go get dressed. We're burning daylight." I looked down at my clothes and gave a embarrassed smile, then ran to the closest changing room. Which wasn't really close.
After I got dressed I ran back to where Cassady was. When I got there I saw she was sitting on the sand, playing with her hair. She looked so beautiful. Then I cleared my throat and walked up to her. "I'm back." I said and I saw her eyes light up.
She ran to me and asked, "How good is your balance?"
"Good, I guess." I replied and she picked up my board.
"Let's see." She said as I took it from her. She grabbed her own board and jogged to the water. "Come on!" She yelled and I ran after her. "We're not going to deep yet. Let's just see how you do, standing on your board, in the water." I climbed on and she held my shoulders, helping me keep my balance. "Good." She said and I gave her a big smile.
