I wake up to a blank ceiling.
I take a look around, and I notice that everything is a lot clearer. I try to sit up, only to feel a sharp pain in my... everything.
I try to look down at myself, only to feel my neck cry out in protest.
what did... what happened?
....
... I... hurt.
I n... need sle...
...
...
...
I'm in a field of white flowers. I kneel and pick some, inspecting them.
pretty white petals... little blue buds in the middle... so pretty. They smell great.
The air is easy to breathe. It's the cleanest air I've ever experienced. I feel nice, clean, and light.
It smells like it looks, with a light fragrance, just enough to calm me, but not enough to overwhelm me.
I begin walking.
...
...
...
I see the blank white of the ceiling again.
"Have a good dream?"
A pleasant voice reaches my ears, filling my empty head.
"Yeah... it was nice. Calm."
I sit up, getting a good look at the lady I was talking to.
She is a bit shorter than me, with dyed blond hair flowing to her shoulders. I see a little bit of gray in the roots of her hair, and her skin is wrinkled. She turns and looks at me, giving me a warm smile.
"That's great dear, could you please stand up and tell me how you feel?"
I stand up, and nearly fly out of my seat. Well, nearly is putting it lightly.
"Woah! I feel so much lighter! And stronger, like I just took the biggest dose of Bestiamine possible!"
"mhm. Well, I'm glad to hear it. How's your vision and precise motor functions feel?"
"They feel great. I can see sharply, and my hands seem to close just fine, why?"
"You'll find out soon. Now then, head down to the training wing, and meet with your instructor."
"Okay."
...
What happened before... right, I was skewered. But how am I back up so quickly, and how do I feel so good? I should be keeling over in pain right now. Whatever, I'll figure that out later.
I arrive at the training wing, and meet my instructor.
It's Shade, and she turns to look at me, grinning.
"So, you're my instructor?"
"Yeah. hmm... no reaction?"
"Why would I react? I'm here for a reason, aren't I?"
"That's true. Well, let's get started. By the time I'm done with you, you're gonna be ready to hunt any and every beast in the city."
I roll my eyes.
"Now then... start!"
Another like her lunges at me from the shadows, taking me down in a quick blow. I wake up a few days later.
I later found out her name was Zeanne.
