I couldn't get any sleep last night. I just... I don't get it. Why did she forgive me? How did she forgive me? First, I got her arm taken off, and she was better within a few weeks. Then, I break a promise I made with her. I betrayed her trust, and did her the ultimate disrespect. And yet... she forgave me?
Maple looks at me from her plate, before Azuki speaks to me. "What's wrong? You've barely touched your fish."
"It's nothing, I'm just not hungry."
"Really? Or are ya' just tired? If so, I could give you a little pick-me up, if ya' know what I mean~"
"I'm sorry, I'm just not in the mood right now. Excuse me."
I need to clear my head. Maybe that'll help.
I step away from the table, and get in the shower, playing some music.
"Smiles fade and blend with the sky
Emotionless grey, a jungle of concrete and lies
I guess reality tells a story of liiiiiife~"
I hear a knock at the door, and I pause the music.
"Can I come in? I've really gotta go!"
"Go for it."
Through the curtain I see a figure awfully close to mine run through.
"Sorry for intruding, Valerie."
"It's fine, I get it. You've got bladder issues."
"No thanks to that botched chip... But, on another note, was that music I heard at the door?"
"Yeah, I like to listen to it to clear my mind, set it straight."
"Huh, could I listen to it?"
"No."
"oh, okay."
"...sorry, I didn't mean to be rude. It's just... the music I listen to feels personal to me. I try not to share it with others, with rare exceptions."
"It's fine, I get it. I mean, I never used to sing because I was worried about how people would react, so I think I get it."
"You sing?"
"Yeah! I had even done a performance with Cinnamon, she played piano while I did guitar and vocals."
"Wow, that's... impressive. Really."
"I have a recording, if you wanna hear it."
"Sure, go for it."
"Damn... mad respect for ya'll, given that performance."
"Sounding like Azuki there."
"What do you mean?"
"'mad respect for ya'll,', just saying, sorta sounds like Azuki."
"hmm..."
"But thanks, it means a lot. If I'm being honest, I almost ran away right before it started."
"Wait, deadass?"
"Yeah. I was scared, that I might let everybody down, that I would fail, and have wasted everyone's time."
