Once rivals. Still teammates. Now lovers.
That was the flow of our relationship.
A twenty minute drive from the inner parts of the city lies a place we call home. We live our daily lives in a slightly fancy 50-storey apartment with 25 rooms in each floor.
40th floor, Room 1009. "Kageyama & Hinata", the sign on our front doors said.

In this world, humans are classified under Alpha, Beta, and Omega.
Alphas are what you can call the elite of the elite. They're the highest in society ranking, all living a prosperous life, blessed with mind and body deviating from the common people. Betas make up most of the people here on Earth. They have a standard way of living and are what you can call 'normal'. As for the Omegas, they are rare...they have the least population in the world. Omegas are the complete opposite of Alphas, the lowest of the lows. People under this classification are discriminated for a reason----that is when they are in heat. Whenever this occurs once every three months that lasts about a week or two, these beings suffer from needing necessary things even if they don't want to. The only 'cure' would be their Alpha, the ones who can perceive whether they're in heat or not.
And it has been said that, only an Alpha and an Omega can share the strongest bond, to the point that they will never leave one another, that is when each have found their destined mate. It doesn't just form willy-nilly. It happens as a connection between the two romantically and emotionally, like a perfect match in their systems, which can never be broken and that happens once in a lifetime. Omegas are known for making soulbonds, in which case Betas are not capable of forming as such, so they cannot bond with them.
Tobio Kageyama is an Alpha. I am an Omega.
With all of that explained, said, and done...
...Kageyama is not my destined mate...

"I'm home!" I could hear him speak loudly while he would open the door and then close it behind him with a click. Quickly, I covered the steaming pot and rushed to the doorstep from the kitchen, having a little concussion on the way because of how slippery the floor was and me, who was wearing my socks.
"Welcome home!" I smiled enthusiastically, barely breathing as he collapsed on my arms after he sighed and smiled back at me.
"Yeah, I'm home.." He says beneath his breath. Kageyama was obviously exhausted from his part-time job. Feeling liberated from it, I patted his head and ruffled my fingers across the black silky strands of hair, messing his usual clean look a little bit.
"Hey...dinner's almost done so why don't you rest for a while on the sofa?" I whispered in his ear softly.
"Mn...I'd like that..." Kageyama nods but he wasn't even moving an inch. When I warned him that I'd get angry if he won't get going, he put his long arms around me. It was warm as always. It was loving as always. "Just a little more, let me stay like this..."
But the last statement made me quiver. I wanted to ask so bad, Did something happen? Why do you seem sad? Tell me about it. I'll listen. Considering it's Kageyama, he would say something, even just a tiny disclosure. Or I'm just really paranoid recently.
After all, we're in college, in a big city, where men and women alike can be anyone's destined mate. That's what I'm afraid of the most, at least that's what I thought.
