Your cold voice brought goosebumps to his skin. Your voice didn't sound like your own and yet, it was. The sun decided to hide in the clouds, making your room darker. Your own body shuddered at the voice you used, making you sick to your stomach.
"No," Bucky whispered sternly, "you're not going to kill anyone." You sucked in a sharp breath, regretting your words as he went on. "Killing isn't easy. Not for anyone, no matter how many times you do it or how much you wanna do it. You, [Y/N], out of all people, I would think, could not kill someone even if your life depended on it." He pulled away, holding your hips while your hands were placed on his shoulders, and looked you right in the eye. "[Y/N], we need you to think straight." You nodded, trying to swallow the lump in your throat.
"I'm sorry," you whispered softly, looking away for a second. "It was a spur of the moment. I wouldn't actually..." you drifted off when you looked at him carefully. His eyes had to form dark circles and his face was tired, making it look like he hasn't slept the whole night.
"What?"
"Did you sleep?" Your question seemed to suck the breath out of Bucky. He froze up, tensing under your hands. You cupped his cheek and felt him relax a little under your touch.
"I had a nightmare and I couldn't sleep after that." You pushed on his shoulders, making him back up to sit on your bed. He took a seat and looked up at you. You cupped his face in your hands and made sure he didn't look away from you.
"What was it about?" Your voice was no louder than a whisper and as light and gentle as a feather. Bucky knew that you could ask him anything like this and he would say it without hesitation.
"You." His voice was barely audible. "You were giving yourself up to the man, Brian. He... he controlled you and you told me to shoot you. But I... I couldn't and you... you ended up choking me. I woke up after that and couldn't go back to sleep."
You stared at him, not knowing what to say, so you pulled him closer to you and waited for his arms to wrap around you. Not caring that you were still in a towel with wet hair, dripping on the floor, he wrapped his arms and buried his face into your stomach. You tangled your hands into his hair, which had grown out, making them the perfect length to tangle your hand in. His eyes were a bit bloodshot when he looked up at you. You smiled gently before he spoke again.
"We should get ready." You nodded and watched him leave your room, looking back once at the door, giving a weak smile to you.

You had your dark [F/C] suit on, guns and knives hidden in pockets and holsters. The suit was a gift from Tony which you modified to absorbed movements to create heat, hence why you weren't shivering like the others were. The Quinjet was in stealth mode, resting on a clearing on the mountain, a mile away from the base. The men were shivering, giving you glances now and then when they noticed you weren't.
Your senses were on high alert, trying to find anyone dangerous. A rustle from a bush put you on edge and your eyes darted around the trees. You quickly noticed that the rustling was coming from ahead and pulled out a pistol to shoot the tree above. The suppressor silenced the shot as the guard fell to the ground with a sickening thud. You saw Steve walk towards you out of the corner of your eye and he shook his head at the man. The bullet was lodged between his forehead and his eyes were still open.
A quick plan was formulated in your head and you turned to Steve.
"Put on the man's clothes." Steve's eyes widened a little, not catching onto your plan. "You could infiltrate the base. While we attack from the front, you could go and find the rest." Steve's eyes darted around before he looked at the men behind you two.
"You have a quick mind," he muttered, turning back to face the dead man. "Smart, but risky too. Everyone in there probably knows the face of Captain America." You smirked and pulled out a small device from your belt. You put it on his neck after scanning the man's face and pressed it. It changed his appearance and made him look like the dead man without the hole between his head.
"There."
Bucky shook his head, shocked and impressed by how much you thought this through. You really wanted your friends to be out of there, quickly and safely. Bucky thought back to the talk you two had while you were in a towel. His face burned and thanked the coldness which already made his face tinged pink.
"So Capsicle will go into the facility, let us in from a hidden door or something, and then we kick ass?" Rhodes asked with a shrug. "Alright." Steve started to put the man's uniform over his own with a bit of difficulty.
Soon enough, Steve was getting his head start while Tony monitored from the sky, in stealth mode, at a safe distance. You watched Tony get higher in the sky as you gave Bucky the earpiece, identical to the one you had given Steve. Bucky took the earpiece with a small smile which you returned, ignoring the gut-wrenching feeling. Bucky pulled you in for a hug, knowing that you both needed it.
Rhodes cleared his throat, making you and Bucky pull apart to look at him.
"When did this happen?" He pointed at the two of you. You glanced at Bucky, ears and cheeks starting to burn. His face was a bright pink colour, but you didn't know whether he was blushing or cold.
A sudden static noise from the earpieces made you all turn to look in the direction of the base. Tony was returning, his failing once in a while. He landed clumsily, not like his usual way, making you rush to his side.
