Diamond
You were my diamond
Glistening in the sand
Shining from afar
Twinking like a star
Your gaze was hard and cold
Something I could never hold
Even if I cry a river or two
You were already gone before I could even touch you
Regret gnawed into my deepest core
I know what I did was uncalled for
Lost my most prized gem over a dummy spit
I've been burning over the fire of guilt
While the heat weakened me, it refined you
I'll watch you shine in different lights and hues
Admire the sparks on the corners of your almond eyes
As you brave the world and I face my own demise.
