"So he asked you out?" Matthew asked me as I took a sip of my warm coffee.
"Mmm." I mumbled quietly.
We were seated back to back in different booths, talking in secret after I asked him to meet me at a local cafe.
"Why didn't you mention this at the team meeting earlier this morning?"
"And say what?" I began to speak sarcastically. "Hey sorry that Lee canceled his meeting with Agent's Verzilli and Michaels', we went on a breakfast date after Agent Suh and I left his office."
"Then why are you telling me this now?"
"Because...." I paused, highlighting a word from the word search I was working on too look busy. "....I have a plan."
"I'm listening." He responded as I heard the clink of him setting his own drink down.
"I didn't want to at first but I have to do it..." I highlighted another word. "I have to meet with him again."
"Y/N-ah" I could sense the worry in his voice. "What exactly are you planning."
"I'm going to get him to trust me." I carefully looked around the busy cafe to make sure no one was listening. "Look..." My tone became more serious. "The others are going to be busy trying to establish a business relationship with his company right? But what if I can establish a different type of relationship?" I took another sip of my coffee. "Lee has already expressed his interest in me so why don't we use that against him."
"We?" I didn't have to look at his face to know he was furrowing his eyebrows.
"Well I can't do this alone." I bit my lip nervously.
He let out a sigh. "You're not going to tell Suh about this little plan of yours are you?"
"I am..." I slightly trailed off. "Just not right away."
"Y/N you know he will kill me if I help with such and idiotic plan. You are playing a dangerous game here."
"I know." I spoke in a calm tone. "But if I don't do it then what's the point of me being here."
"Because you are a part of our team and we need to work together to-"
"That's not what I meant." I cut off his words. "Matthew do you you know why I joined the DEA?"
"I don't know." He replied confused as to why I would ask him. "I just assumed you followed in your brothers footsteps. And isn't your dad a U.S marshal?"
"You're not wrong." I let out a small sigh. "But as you also know, Johnny isn't my blood relative."
"The team is aware, you're adopted right?" He asked from the little info he knew of my personal life.
"Not exactly." I began to tell him the truth of my past. "You see I was born here in Seoul."
He slightly turned his head as if wanting to look at me but remembered we were meeting in secret.
"Thirteen years ago my parents and I traveled to America for a short vacation. It was only supposed be a few days, we were supposed to come back." I felt a lump in my throat as I fought back tears. "They were killed in front of me." I paused to control my anger that was beginning to rise. "Shot. I was left do die next to them."
"Y/N I didn't know-" I could hear the sadness in his voice.
"No one did." I wiped away the single tear that had escaped. "The man who killed them was sentenced to life but was found dead in his cell three years later. No one know's if it was suicide or murder." I scoffed. "Do you want to know the worst part?" I prepared myself to tell him. "He was only a disposable game piece to the man he worked for. He and my family were less than nothing to that man." I sighed and took a sip of my coffee. "To Rafael Martin."
