CHAPTER EIGHT: Sweet Rivalry
❀
CALLISTO AND ESTELLA HADN'T SPOKEN TO ONE ANOTHER FOR THE PAST WEEK. It was strange for the two of them considering that they were best friends, and despite Estella hating the fact that she was a Ravenclaw, she desperately wanted her team to win the house cup.
The Lestrange had been practising for the game every day for the past week, and that's not even including the several team trainings that she had also attended. The game was only two days away, and she was desperate to get out to the pitch to practise some shooting, but Professor Flitwick had kept them back late because some Gryffindors wouldn't stop talking.
Because of his unfair punishment on the entire class, Callisto was annoyed, as were Adrian and Marcus, and it didn't help that George Weasley was looking back at her every two minutes. Every time he did, he was met with a scowl from the girl, but it didn't seem to faze him, it never did and it was starting to irritate Callisto.
As soon as they were released from the class, Callisto jumped to her feet and swung her book bag over her shoulder, practically running from the classroom and straight to the Quidditch pitch. She grabbed her broom from the broom shed along with a Quaffle, carelessly tossing her book bag to the ground before making her way over to the Quidditch Pitch.
Callisto knew that she was an excellent Quidditch player, there was no doubt about that, but she also knew that one could always improve, hence why she would practice almost every day up until any match. Some of her teammates thought it was unnecessary, but she ignored them as it wasn't all about the sport. Callisto loved having the time to herself, away from the expectations of her Slytherin peers.
George Weasley had noticed the Lestrange's hasty exit after Professor Flitwick had dismissed the class, and he couldn't help but wonder if she was headed to the Quidditch Pitch again, after all, he had seen her there a couple of days that week before his Gryffindor trainings. He gave Fred and Lee some strange excuse as to why he wasn't going back to the Gryffindor Common Room immediately, and he headed to the Quidditch Pitch in hopes to find the Slytherin Chaser.
He quickly grabbed his broomstick, a Cleansweep 5, and he flew up to where Callisto was still shooting hoops. The Lestrange was so focused on the three hoops that she didn't even notice George's presence until he spoke, which made the girl jump and lose her grip on the Quaffle. Callisto glowered at the boy before flying down to pick up the Quaffle from the grass below.
"You scared me half to death, Weasley," she muttered with a glare, she was avoiding eye contact with him.
"Sorry, Moon Girl, mind if I join you?" George replied with a cheeky grin, the Lestrange just rolled her eyes and reluctantly tossed him the Quaffle.
"Bit late for that, but why not," Callisto said maliciously through gritted teeth. George attempted to shoot at one of the rings but missed by heaps which caused the Slytherin to laugh lightly. "Well that was a sad attempt, good thing you're a Beater," the girl snarked causing George to look at her strangely.
