"Bellatrix?" Rodolphus called throughout his manor.
"What." She growled in her room, holding her infant daughter in her arms.
"Come on let's do something fun. As a family."
She groaned in annoyance.
"Bella, I love you. Doesn't having my child make you want to show the least bit of affection towards me? That's the only reason I got you pregnant."
"She's not your child. You just helped make her." Bellatrix said sternly.
"The least you could do is thank me."
She said nothing, rocking her baby and staring at her with great intent. Rodolphus sighed and left the room, slowly hating his own child for taking up all of his wife's attention.
"You remember this little one. Your mother will always be on your side. No matter what happens, I'll always be right here."
Bellatrix always spoke to her daughter. Rodolphus thought it ridiculous knowing it was almost impossible for Belinda to understand. However her bond with her mother was powerful. Belinda was a name chosen by Bellatrix, representing a star constellation meaning 'pretty one', and the baby was indeed pretty.
The baby cooed and pawed at her mother's curls. For Belinda only being ten months, she was already showing great signs of magic. Bellatrix hadn't told anyone, not even her husband or the dark lord how powerful her daughter was. Belinda could channel magic through her body, not needing a wand, meaning she was dangerously powerful.
Bellatrix even brought her daughter to death eater meetings, proud to show her off. Even with Draco being a baby as well, Lucius and Narcissa never brought him near the death eaters.
Belinda sat in her crib whining as her parents fought.
"The only reason I keep that thing around is because she keeps you somewhat sane! She's been nothing but a burden ever since she came out of you!"
"A burden to you and a blessing to me." Bella said calmly as she changed her baby's shirt.
"I thought a child would be good for both of us."
Bellatrix ignored her venting husband.
"I don't understand why you see her as so special. You never take your eyes off her."
"Because Belinda is a prodigy. She means a great deal to the dark lord and I." She answered simply. The nearly year old baby smiled in return.
"The dark lord will want to use her for her gifts."
"She'll oblige." Bellatrix said combing the baby's curls.
"Where are you leaving her tomorrow? You can't bring her on a mission."
"Not yet I can't. She'll stay with Cissy. Baby Draco loves when she comes over anyway."
Bellatrix gave a scowl when she felt Rodolphus sneak up behind her and hug her.
"What are you doing?"
He began to kiss her neck. Bellatrix gave the baby an unamused look, making her giggle, or more like cackle.
"Why don't we leave her at your sister's a bit earlier?" He asked annoyed that his daughter got in the way.
"No." Bellatrix grabbed her from the crib and placed her on her hip. Bellatrix refused to neglect her baby like her parents neglected her.
"Mamamaamamamama." The drooling baby babbled on.
The day came where Bellatrix would have to track down the Longbottom's. This meant she'd have to leave Belinda behind with the Malfoy's.
"She'll be fine Bella." Narcissa assured.
"Yes. But there's a great chance we'll get caught. You'll be sure she receives my letters?"
"Of course Bella."
"She'll serve the dark lord greatly." Bella giggled.
"She's a child Bella. Much like Draco." Narcissa said holding both babies now.
Bellatrix gave Belinda one last hug and kiss.
"I want her writing to me as soon as she learns to use a quill."
"Of course Bella. But you're coming back. She'll be fine."
"Mama...." Belinda began to frown which made Bellatrix sad. She turned back and blew her a kiss. That was the last time the two saw each other for a very long time.
