"What's he doing to that girl, Bella?"
Narcissa and Lucius looked out of the window, out into the garden where Belinda and Rodolphus were. It had been two weeks and Belinda only slept and ate when she wasn't training. She only wrote to Severus and her friends before she slept at night. She looked completely different. Her hair was up in a bun, she wore leggings and a sports bra and she was completely barefoot even though it was cold out. If it meant she could have some kind of relationship with her father she'd take it.
"Teaching her how to handle herself in a cruel world."
"Channel your energy, and your magic." Rodolphus instructed as she stood on the cold grass. "Draw a circle of fire around us. Go on."
She stood there, almost losing the feeling in her feet. She heard something behind her and turned around to see her other uncle, just watching her. Rabastan Lestrange would never share more than a glance with her. Only he never looked like he hated her, he looked fearful.
"If you're going to watch, don't distract her." The brothers and Bellatrix all got along fine. She would see them laughing together at meetings. But for some reason, they never let him near their daughter.
"Breathe, Belinda. Close your eyes. Focus on the energy surrounding you. Feel the magic inside you. If you're freezing, or in pain. Don't succumb to it. Just how you embraced the pain from the cruciatus curse. Channel it."
With her eyes closed, she took two deep breaths before finally finding the strength to move her left foot, dragging it around her in a circle as she let out her breath. Rodolphus watched as a stream of green flames began to surround them.
"Good. Now shut it off."
"I've never done that before."
"You just released this magical energy. It's yours. All you have to do is take it back."
She kept her eyes open this time, as she knelt and slammed her fist on the ground. They watched as the flames calmly trickled back towards her, and sank back into her hand.
"Excellent." He squeezed her shoulder and pushed her towards the manor. "Go inside. Get warm. We'll spar later."
"Merlin, he's trying to kill you." Narcissa said immediately throwing a blanket over her. She was rushed into the living room and sat in front of the fire place. She looked to her right and Draco was on the couch. He waved at her and they gave each other a look, already sensing an argument coming along.
"He's pushing her too hard. She's still a child!"
"Oh please it's a man's world and he's teaching her to be one!" Bellatrix shouted at her sister.
"Look at her! She's got bruised ribs and her black eye just went away!"
"You should see her father." Her mother laughed.
"It's not funny Bella! It's barbaric!"
"Perhaps it's for the best." Lucius said looking over at his niece. His wife looked over at him in shock. "She's mastering her gifts. If she does, she can protect this whole family."
The Lestrange brothers walked in and Rabastan looked at his niece, still bundled in her blanket. Rodolphus whispered something to him and he left, without a word.
"What are you lot going on about now?"
"Cissy's convinced you're torturing Belinda."
"She's supposed to be enjoying her break."
"She is enjoying it. Look at her."
Her family turned to her and she just sat there. Rodolphus removed the blanket from around her head.
