RYDERS POINT OF VIEW
I woke up on the bed and saw Aurora's head on Adams shoulder, with Adam's arms around her and I smiled at the moment. Tom had left to get breakfast and later we are going to head to the village.
Tom busted open the door suddenly, I jumped out of bed and put my fists up, thinking someone had broken into our room.
"We have to go. NOW!" Hw shouted the last bit, waking up Aurora and Adam, who had sat up, startled.
"Why?" Adam asked when putting on a shirt, tossing an outfit to Aurora.
"Luke, he's here." Tom whispered when Aurora was in the bathroom.
"The Princes men are here?!" I asked loudly, knowing our sister would hear it, and not know it was Luke because then she'd want to go see him.
She slams the door open, blue eyes wide and frightened.
"What?!" She asks breathlessly.
"Get in," Tom opens a carry on suitcase.
"What?!" She says confused.
"Just get in," he commands.
She hesitates and Adam pushes her in roughly, we don't have time for dallying. As we zip up the case she voices her concerns quite loudly which we chose to ignore because although she might hate us, it's for the best. She quiets down and we head out to our rented vehicle. I load her into the car and pull my hoodie father down my head, knowing Luke is here with 10 of his men. Adam gets in the backseat whilst Tom gets in the passenger and sits. I floor it. We aren't going to a village as I told her, but rather a cottage in the mountain with fields of grass, a garden, horses, cows, chickens, everything she's always wanted. She can paint there too, then we just live there in piece until the next hurdle comes.
I had lost myself in thought and hadn't been paying attention to the road, my brother Tom has snapped me out of my thoughts,
"RYDER, slow the fuck down!" He shouted and I immediately pressed on the breaks.
It was a police stop, but I knew it wasn't regular, as the men are dressed in black, all combat gear including helmets. It was the American Resistance.
I took a breath and rolled up to the guard.
"Hello can I see identification for all 3 of you please," he asks shining a flashlight into my face. I had our three passports to him.
"American?" He asks with a quirk of his brow.
"Just visiting," I say with a trying-to-be-innocent smile which he doesn't return.
He walks back to the impromptu office.I exchanged a look with Tom, we knew that Luke was probably in that office.
I was correct, the guards come rushing out and surround our vehicle, Adam whispers to Aurora to be as quiet as possible, and she does as directed.
The crowd of men part and a man walks through, identifiable as Luke because of his slightly long, dark hair. He stalks up to my window,
"Where is she, I saw, it's all over the news she escaped, and if you're in a small town like this in Canada you obviously have her." He said, his voice edging on promising chaos and destruction.
"We don't have her," I lie to him, my voice betraying nothing.
He takes a moment to look at me carefully,
"Search the car, you three get out," he commands his people and us.
We decide to abide by him, not wanting to anger him further. Three of his men stay behind and hold our hands behind us, cuffing us with metal that bites into our skin. All of our luggage is taken out, including the case that A is in, luckily she hasn't made a peep, she thinks that it is Malum.
"There's something you should know Luke," Adam calls out before I can tell him not to.
He pauses scanning the car.
"And what is that Adam?" He questions, stalking over to where we are sitting, our hands tied.
"She wasn't happy with the Prince, she was lying, we thought she was, that's why we told you she was. We were just idiots not too see the truth, but then we got an encoded letter saying she was planning on escaping, we met her there at the designated spot and fled." Adam explained and I clenched my jaw, the idiot had just told Luke that we had her.
He raises a brow.
"So you guys have her?" He asks and Adam blanches, previously unaware of the information he had let go to the closeted psychopath.
Adam doesn't say anything, and the silence is enough to tell Luke that we do.
"Open the luggage," he commands hastily turning his back on us.
We don't struggle, we know there is no way out of this now.The bag that has Aurora in it opens, and the guards drag her to Luke. She looks up, a face of surprise works it onto her face.
"Luke?" She questions quietly.
"Yeah I'm here bubs," he say taking her in his arms.
She hugs him back and tears make it down her face.
"My brothers told me we didn't have enough time to go back to get you," she says, still shocked.
Luke sends us a murderous look,
"It's ok, I'm here now," he says, and releases her, but keeps an arm around her waist.
"My brothers said you've become different..." she trails off looking at his face.
"But I don't see anything," she looks toward us, surprise and betrayal showing in her bright blue eyes.
"They lied to you," he says leaning down to kiss the top of her head.
"They...you guys lied?" She asks, stricken with tears now forming.
"Now we didn't A! Don't believe him! We would never lie to you!" Adam shouts.
"They've lied to you before," Luke says and Aurora looks at him questioningly.
"They told you they were working at a grocery store, actually some of those days they're helping me with the rebellion, the one I once told you I lead. I didn't tell you because they told me not to, but then lying to you, I just can't fathom it." He says with mock sincerity.
She looks back at us, her eyes glassy in the light, then turns her head back into Luke's chest who looks down at her dotingly, then at us with a sinister smile.
"Want to go?" He asks her, as if she actually had a choice.
"Go where?" She asks.
"Canada has underground business, like a mafia, or a mob, and they're willing to help us turn American government back into what it once was in exchange they're business can reestablish itself once we win," he explains to her.
"Sure, what about Ryder, Tom and Adam though," she doesn't even look at us, something that I can tell pleases him.
"They'll come too," he said softly.
"Ok," she replies submissively.
He turns, they guards walk ahead of them, but before they disappear into the car Aurora looks over her shoulder at us and winks.I never know what's going to happen next with my sister, but something tells me she's a lot smarter than she lets on.
