Into the maze

Chapter nine

"Come on y/n" Gally said while holding his hand out. "Just a little walk".

You sighed and took his hand as he pulled you into the woods. "Why are you being so nice to me". You asked.

"Because I feel like you need a friend right now" he replied. "Why, do you think I'm mean?" He asked with concern.

"You just have a reputation of being well. Mean" you answer. "But I don't think that. I promise".

"Ok that's good because I wouldn't want you to ever feel like I'm not here for you. Anyway about the dreams..." he continued

"Oh yeah, what about them"

"Well what happens in them" he asked.

"I normal wake up at wckd head quarters. And I see a blonde women..." He cut you off "Ava her names Ava" he told you. Unsure of how he knew that you continue "... and she normal talks to a guy called Janson. And I scream to wake my self up".

He looked at your hands "jeez y/n" he held your hand up to your face and showed you marks on your palm where you dug your nails into your hand. "Does that hurt" he asked with concern.

"I didn't even notice it. I'm ok I promise I'm more worried about what to do about this love triangle" you resume. You both giggle.

He stops "y/n". You turn around to see him stood there.

"Yes" you replied curious as to what he was doing.

"Did I ever tell you about my sister" he asked.

"No never" you said with shock as you had no idea he had a sister.

"She died. She ran into the maze and never came out" Gally said with a tear falling down his face.

"Oh my god Gally I'm so sorry" you sympathised.

"You remind me of her. Natural beauty, funny, very very sarcastic and over all a great person"

You blushed. "Wow Gally. Thank you"

You walk for a bit then head back to the glade. On your walk he told you that the reason he didn't want you to go into the maze is because of what happened and that he will protect you at all costs.

"Hey y/n. Where have you been" Thomas asked while walking over to you.

"Oh with a friend" you turn and smile at Gally. "You ok" you asked.

"Yeah I'm ok. You feeling better"

"Yeah a lot better." You look to the left and see newt sat alone on a hammock. "Give me a minute" you walk over to newt leaving Thomas.
"Hey Newtie you ok"

"Hey y/n I'm good just thinking" he responded.

"About what" you ask

"The day you saved Angel"

You look at each other and blush. You put your head down and newt puts his hand on yours "I've never said a proper thank you" he said ending the silence.

"You don't have t..."

"Thank you for saving my sister. I'm forever in your debt and I honestly think your a incredible person". He says removing his hand.

———Suddenly you here the box come up———

Everyone ran out to the box to see what was in it. Almost like they had never seen it before. You and newt walk out together and you can't help but notice jealousy on Thomas' face. You run over to the box peering your head down and newt jumps in the box soon followed by Gally. Newt turns the guy in the box from his stomach to his back so you can all see him. He sits up and looks around at you all. You catch his eye and before he said anything Gally said "day one greenie rise and shine". And put his hand out to help him to his feet.

You catch his eye again but this time you held eye contact for a little bit longer. You were mesmerised by his chocolate brown hair that stood on the top of his head. His golden brown eyes and his blush pink lips. You came out of your trance by Thomas tapping your shoulder.

"You ok" he asked scrunching his eyebrows.

"Fine I've never seen the box come up before." You smiled.

Thomas took your hand "your so cute" he said squeezing your hand pulling you closer to him.

Your stomach got loads of butterflies in it. It was almost as if he saw how you looked at the newbie and was claiming you. Unsure of what to do you pulled away so that he was looking at you.

"Tommy" you said with a slight chuckle.

"Yes Sockie" he replied with the same tone.

You looked at the floor then back up to his eyes. Your silence defended him. "Sockie..."

You snap back to reality "oh right...thank you".

His eyes lit up and his cheeks went a blush pink colour. He put his arm around your waist and pulled you close to him. He rested his head on yours "no problem Sock". You leaned into to him still intrigued by the new boy.

You all slowly leave the area of the box carrying supplies out so that Gally didn't have to do it all.

"Hey girl" you look up and see Cleo, Sabrina and Elsie staring at you.

"Hey?" You reply

"What's the deal with you and Thomas then" Cleo asked straight up.

That's what you liked about Cleo she spoke her mind. Nothing less nothing more. "Nothing why" you ask.

"Because that" she pointed to the box area "was a whole lot more than just 'friends'" Elsie said.

"I don't know what you mean" you brushed it off.

"You know what we mean don't try deny it. You like him" Sabrina said.

"Honestly guys were just friends and to be honest I'm getting tired of the assumptions so with that being said I'm going to bed now and if any of you have any more questions please save them for a time that I feel like playing 21 questions with you regarding my 'love life' " you wink at them and walk away. Spotting the new boy laughing after listening to what you just said.

You walk over to him "and what are you laughing at" you smile.

"Your so sassy. Wow" he laughed. You couldn't help but laugh but quickly cleared your throat.

"Y/n Y/l/n. And you are"

He stuttered "I- don't know. They called me greenie" he said.

"Good old Gally he loved that name. That's what he called Thomas when he arrived" you chuckled.

"Is Thomas your boyfriend" he asked.

You choke on air putting your finger up gesturing for him to give you a minute. "Well greenie" you smile "no he's not my boyfriend. Thomas has been here for me from the start along with Newt Gally and the girls."

He raised his eyebrows "the same girls you just sassed" he asked.

"I should probably apologise for that huh." He nodded "well I'll do it tomorrow come on I'll show you to the tents" you walk him to the tents and show him which hammock is his. You then get in your hammock and fall asleep.
