As the familiar song came to an end, so did the dance. The audience cheered widely, and Kurt's heart dropped, the green eyed boy smiled as he sauntered off stage and saw the porcelain boy, taking his mask off when he was hidden behind the deep purple curtains. In comparison, Sebastian looked more fitted for the dance, he even had some fabric tucked and sewed together to hang from his shirt like a tail, swishing with every movement.
"Oh, hey Kurt, thought you chickened out on us" Sebastian smirked, "Like my dance?" he teased.
"You stole Kurt's dance! You saw him practicing that!" Blaine growled, his fists clenching again.
"Kurt's dance? I think not, I simply saved a masterpiece from being ruined by miss prima over here" Sebastian laughed, pushing Kurt on the shoulder gently, his hand instantly being smacked away by the boy.
"Oh.. what's wrong Kurtie?" he asked in a teasing voice as the boy in question glared up at him.
"Number seven Liam Higgs!" the announcer called, a ginger haired boy cutting past the scene and walking onto the stage.
"If you'll excuse me, I have to get to my seat, this little birdie's so exhausted from his standing ovation worthy dance" he beamed as he knocked into Kurt, pushing him into Blaine as he strutted past, dodging the claws of Santana as she reached for him, the group of girl's barley keeping her back.
"What am I going to do..?" Kurt mumbled to himself quietly, although he still got Blaine's attention as the shorter boy turned to face him only to see panic on his face, "If I do the same dance after it'll look like I copied! Not to mention that compared to his, my costume looks like a kids crappy art project!" Kurt panicked, tugging at the loose pieces of flowy fabric.
"Hey hey, Kurt calm down" Blaine said, placing his hands on the boy's shoulders in an attempt to relax him but with little luck, "Hey.. Kurt, look at me..." Blaine whispered softly as he pulled Kurt closer, the panicked boy now facing him, there's eyes locking.
Blaine held Kurt's gaze with a soft smile that grew as he heard his breathing slowing down to the normal pace, Kurt took in a breath and closed his eyes, opening them as he exhaled gently and looked at Blaine.
"Better?" Blaine asked.
"Better" Kurt replied.
"Okay now let's think, what other dances do you know?" Blaine asked, rubbing Kurt's shoulders as the boy tilted his head slightly while thinking before letting out a defeated sigh.
"None as technically good or strong as Firebird..." he admitted frowning.
"What about the Lilac Fairy Kurt?" Rachel piped up, coming over to the two boys.
"The Lilac Fairy? Wait, is that the dance I saw you performing in the studio?" Blaine asked, a smile forming at the memory and his eyes wide and hopeful as he looked from the small brunette to his boyfriend however, Kurt's face was the complete opposite.
"Yes, it is, and Kurt knows the dance so well he could dance it backwards!" Rachel gushed.
"I can't do her dance.. you know that Rachel..." Kurt replied.
"Her dance?" Blaine asked, he'd never mentioned the dance before as Kurt only seemed to dance it when no one was around, or when he thought they weren't.
"It was my mums favourite dance. She performed it professionally, taught me the first half when I was younger but.. she died before we finished it" Kurt admitted, his eyes glossing over.
"So that's why you only dance the first half..." Blaine breathed, realisation dawning on him.
Kurt bit his lip slightly to stop himself crying as he offered a meek nod, looking his boyfriend in the eyes.
