"Y/N, I NEED TO TALK TO YOU."

The sudden, unusually low voice of my friend made me freeze in my tracks, similar to a train at the end of its stop. His footsteps were hushed as they entered my office, maintaining a steady eye contact the entire time while he made his way over to my desk.

"Shu," I smiled, greeting him with a welcoming wave. "Do you need help with something? Anything I can do?"

       "What's your relationship with Lui?"

"O-Oh, um," I blushed, setting the pen down with a click. "Well I—" He eyed me sternly, narrowing his crimson red pupils. Why was he so serious? "Lui's my soulmate...H-He asked me out yesterday, and...um...I'm not exactly sure—I-I'll check in wi—"

"Soulmate huh?" Shu bit his bottom lip, the bruised teeth marks forming along the pale surface. It wasn't obvious, but the snowy haired male had on a plastered smile. "That's nice to know. When are you gonna go on the date?"

       "T-Tomorrow..." I answered. "why?"

       "I'll give you tomorrow off."

"A-Ah!" I gasped. "Really? No, i-it's fine, I can wait until after—"

"No, have a day off." Shu smiled, tilting his head to the side as his ruby red eyes shut. His breathing quickened, but his voice was still soft and delicate as a butterfly's wing. "You haven't seen Lui in a long time. Spend some time with him..."

SHU'S POV

'It felt as if someone stabbed me clean through.'

       "A-Are you sure?"

'I feel empty, dull.'

I blinked with a smile once more.

The twinkle in her E/C eyes were so surreal, it was like if all of her life's wishes had come true. Y/N was standing up in her desk, hands planted firmly on top of the dark surface. The smile drawn upon her soft lips was so...so enthralling.

I wish that smile could stay forever, me being a reason as to why it appeared in the first place. I want to see her happy.

But I also want to see her...
