I had a mean look today. I always had a mean look; today, it was especially awful. I swung my fist again in full speed, followed by my other fist, back and forth consistently and as hard as my muscles would allow me. The punching bag swung high and each time it boomeranged back to me, I swung harder to get it the fuck away from me.
Frustrated, I let out a loud grunt and gave up on the victim I pictured I was actually hitting. If I could keep going, I most definitely would, but they wouldn't allow it. They never allowed it because if they did, my knuckles would be raw flesh, and they were pretty against injuries here.
Hell, I even had to take out my various piercings to ensure I was safe.
I glared at the punching back that was dripping sweat down the sides and landing on the floor beneath. I scoffed and walked away. I'd be back tomorrow to finish what I started.
But for now, it was showtime.
She had an open door policy which I hated. Nonetheless, I walked into her office, uninterested, and sat down in the chair in front of her desk, where she was sitting on the other side.
She greeted me with a warm smile.
"Elias," She warmly said as I settled into my seat. "Just on time."
She pulled out a small rectangular box where white sand rested inside along with a tiny rake and put it on the desk in front of me.
I glanced at the pointless sand tray and couldn't help but smirk. "Ah, doctor, we're back to this method? I like your attempt in trust," I mused and glanced up at her brown eyes.
She smiled. "I have great hopes that you won't throw it at me this time," She organized her pile of papers and put them away. "Give it a try if you'd like," She encouraged. "Most of my other patients find it relaxing."
Doctor Howl referred to me as her special case. She was a rule follower but she tended to bend them when I was with her. I gave her a glint of respect for at least putting any notes of me away. It only meant that she actually remembered the very little details I gave her.
I tapped the desk and gave her a charming wicked smile. She didn't see me smile often, unless it was to terrorize her. She knew that it meant trouble. I've been seeing her every single day for the last eleven months.
"How are you feeling today?" She asked with her hands clasped over the desk. She tended to ignore my threats as over the months she's come to know me a lot more than I'd like to ever admit.
I tilted my head to the side, inquiring.
She smiled. "I see. You must be getting bored of me asking you this everyday," She agreed. "But it changes every day with you, so I feel the need to see which mood I'm talking to today."
"Will it affect what our discussion will be about?" I asked, intently staring her down.
She scooted in her seat and shook her head.
"I feel nothing."
She searched my eyes for more but I didn't react.
"You know, Elias, you've come quite a long way since when you first arrived in my office," She reminisced. "We can have a conversation whereas in the past we would take up this whole session in silence."
