...
Yeona didn't know what to do with herself as she sat there awkwardly with Haechan.
As much as she wanted to go on her phone, there was no way that she would be willing to lose, paying for such an expensive meal. Even though she could definitely afford it, it was such a waste.
"What?" Haechan asked, breaking the silence. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Well I can't look at anything else." Yeona said, pretty annoyed. "What do you want me to look at?"
Haechan smirked, leaning forward as he had a smug look on his face, resting his chin in his hands. Yeona immediately moved back.
"I mean you can look at my handsome face all day, if that's what you want."
"Yah, you-"
Yeona had lifted her hand to smack Haechan but a cough made both of them turn. Their food had arrived.
Yeona didn't want to admit it but the food looked good. Really good. Better than anything she had ever seen before.
Haechan must have thought the same thing as he already had his bowl of rice ready, rolling up his sleeves with a pair of chopsticks in his hand. He was almost drooling over his food as he reached out, about to pick one of dishes when he stopped halfway to look at her.
"Aren't you going to eat too?" Haechan asked, clearly noticing that she had just been staring.
"Um, yeah." Yeona said, picking up a pair of chopsticks.
"Here." Haechan said, taking her bowl and placing some of the meet and vegetables in it. "You eat first, I want to see your reaction."
"What a creep." Yeona mumbled, making Haechan scoff.
"Yah, I brought you to my favourite restaurant and you're calling me a creep?" Haechan exclaimed in disbelief.
Yeona wanted to argue back but her growling stomach seemed to be against that. She decided to let it slide, placing the food in her mouth instead.
Oh my gosh...
Her face must have made her thoughts obvious enough as Haechan giggled, a smile on his face. "Good, isn't it?"
"It is." Yeona said, immediately scooping more into her bowl. "How did you even find this place?"
Yeona noticed Haechan's smile fade before he cleared his throat. "Sorry, that was spicy."
Sure...
"But I used to eat out a lot." Haechan told her, eyes on his food as he ate. "So I found a lot of really good restaurants, but also a long list of ones to avoid."
Yeona couldn't help but giggle, seeing Haechan shudder at the thought of the terrible food. "Must be nice. I normally eat leftovers alone."
"That must suck." Haechan said as Yeona realized that she had exposed herself. Haechan looked up from his food, meeting her eyes. "What? Are you that weird that you actually enjoy eating terrible leftover food alone?"
"Of course not." Yeona said, turning back to her food.
Just then, Yeona heard rumbling and turn towards the window to see that it was beginning to rain.
"Damn, I was thinking about going to the beach." Haechan said, making Yeona turn back to him.
"The beach? On a weekday?" Yeona asked. Haechan nodded his head.
"You can go to the beach anyday. It's always so nice and warm with the sun and your face while you're swimming through the ocean. It's my favourite place to be." Haechan told her.
"Mine too." Yeona said quietly, not expecting Haechan to hear her.
"We should go some day then." Haechan said, surprising Yeona. Haechan was focused on his food as he ate though, not noticing that Yeona's eyes were on him. "But not today. It's gross."
Yeona let out a small laugh, deciding to let herself loose.
He doesn't even have social media anyways.
"Whatever you say, Haechan."
...
Haechan glanced out the window, staring at the streets. It was still raining yet it seemed like quite a bit of time had passed.
What time is it? Haechan thought as he reached for his phone, turning it around. He immediately regretted it as a big smile spread on Yeona's face as she pointed at him.
"Hah, you have to pay now!" Yeona said before beginning to dance happily, the pair of chopsticks in her hand.
Haechan bit his lip to hide his smile as he immediate decided to take a picture, something he often did to Renjun when they were doing stupid things together. This made Yeona freeze as she heard the sound of a shutter.
"Yah!" Yeona called out but Haechan simply smiled, showing him his phone.
"I don't know about you, but I think I did a pretty good job. Jaemin would be proud." Haechan said, puffing up his chest.
Yeona ignored him as she reached out, steading his phone as she placed her hands over his.
Haechan didn't know why but as the girl stared at her photo, Haechan could feel his cheeks heat up.
Stop it.
"Yah, if you like it so much, I'll just send it to you." Haechan said, ripping his phone from her hands out of embarassment. Yeona didn't noticed, picking her phone up.
"That would be great. Thanks." Yeona said, patiently waiting for him to send the photo.
"There, happy?" Haechan asked put his phone down, raising his hand to call a waitress over to get the terribly expensive bill.
I definitely expected her to lose this bet.
"Very." Yeona said, placing her phone down as well to Haechan's surprise.
Once Haechan was done paying, he returned his wallet to his pocket to see Yeona staring at him with a glimmer in her eyes.
"Since it's still raining, we can't go back to school. So let's go somewhere else instead."
