25 Tobio Kageyama

Plot: Melody and Kageyama once highschool sweethearts meet again as adults.

"A reunion with Karasuno?"

"Yeah! Sugawara planned this for all of us, so you better come." Kiyoko says on the phone. "Yachi will also come. She told me how much she missed you."

"Alright alright! I'll go! When will it be?"

"Next week Saturday! I'll send you the location after this call."

"Alright. I'll be there. Oh and can I bring my fiancé with me?"

"Of course!"

"Okay okay. I'll see you soon!" I end the call and go to check my schedule to make some room. "

"I overheard your phone call." My fiancé wraps and arm around my waist and kisses my cheek.

"Oh!" I turn around and kiss him back. "We're going to have a reunion! Are you free next week Saturday?"

"I am. You've been telling me how much you missed your highschool friends. I'm glad that you're meeting them so soon!"

"Thank you dear." I hug him as his warm arms wrapped around me.

I am excited to see everyone, but I am nervous seeing that one person.

The day arrives and I just got more nervous than usual. My fiancé already knows my past with him and knows why I am so nervous to meet with him again.

"I'll be right here when you need me." He takes my hand and kisses my cheek.

"Right..." I take a couple deep breaths. "Thank you. I love you."

"I love you too." We sneak a kiss. "Shall we head in?"

We enter the place and there was everyone.

"Kiyoko! Yachi!" I run up and tackle the two girls in a heavy hug.

We exchanged pleasantries and I went around to greet everyone. My fiancée already met everyone way before hence why he already knew most of them.

I spot him fighting it out with Hinata as per usual and I gather my courage to speak with them.

"Hi Tobio, Hinata!" I give them a big smile.

"Melody..." Kageyama looks shocked to see me.

"Melody!!!" While Hinta was more than happy to see me.

"Hello you two. Nice to see you again." My fiancé placed a supporting hand on my back.

"It's you!" Hinata smiles. "It's been so long!"

"It truly has." I look at Kageyama who smiles back at me.

"How have you been?"

We chat for a bit with others joining in then proceed to eat and drink together and loosen up a bit. I only had a few drinks and couldn't really loosen up as I was still kinda nervous.

I look for the perfect time to tall with him alone. When I did, I told my fiancé and he kissed my cheek and told me to go ahead. He was so understanding.

I whisper to Tobio to come with me and so we ended up on the balcony where no one was.

"So how are you?" I start off. "Do you have any special someone?"

"I do actually." He smiles up at he looks at the people partying inside. "She's still my girlfriend, but I'm planning to propose to her soon."

"That's great! Advance congratulations!" I smile. "I...don't mean to intrude in your relationship at all. But I just want to clear things up with...you know...what happened to us..."

"Ah..." He nods. "Don't worry. I see you with your fiancé. You both look really happy."

"Thank you..." I breathe in. "When we broke up. I never really explained why. It was because I thought you cheated on me."

"What??? Who told you that?" He looks shocked and even offended.

"A classmate of mine said she saw you with somebody else...and let's just say that consumed my mind. I lashed out instead of confirming it with you and I just want to apologize." I bow to him, completely regretful of what I did as a teen. "I realized that I was wrong when we broke up, that classmate of mine suddenly flirted so openly to you...I was fooled...no I let myself be fooled."

"Melody..." Kageyama spoke softly.

"For a long time I kept thinking back to it and what I could have done differently... I loved you...for such a long time. That was until I met my current fiancé. He showed me what love really is and I am more than grateful that he accepts me for my flaws and imperfections."

"You loved me all that time...?" I nod. "I-... Ever since we broke up I never stopped loving you...until just recently."

The wind seems to blow even colder.

"You...did? After all that I said to you?" I couldn't belive my ears.

He nods smiling sadly.

Things could have turned out so differently for us. We could have been married now if we got back together. We could even have had kids by now. All those years we spent healing ourselves, we could have been together. But now it's all in the past.

"Things could have turned out so differently for us huh." He sighs. "But right now, I love only one woman. She brings me so much joy and I want to give it back to her tenfold."

"You better!" I sniff back tears and hit his arm lightly. "Don't let her go if you believe she's the one."

"I won't... I won't make the same mistake twice." He nods with a sad smile on.

"Let's shake on it. To a fresh new friendship...and to our own separate happy relationships." I offer my hand as tears began to fall from my eyes.

"I'll shake on that." He smirks and shakes my hand.

It feels strange. I know for sure I love my fiancé and not Tobio at all. But something about knowing that all those years we were suffering for no reason and all of it could have ended if we just communicated. I'm happy for the both of us, but it still hurts.

"Idiot! Don't cry! Your fiancé will think I made you cry!"

"Don't worry about that." My fiancee comes and placed his coat to hide my face. "She told me everything between you two."

"I'm sorry about that." Tobio bows.

"Oh it's not yout fault at all! It's definitely her fault." He teases me so I pinch his side. "Ow!"

Tobio chuckles at us.

"I'm glad you two found each other." He begins walking back. "Take care of her."

"Of course. You take care of your girl too." My fiancé rubs my back to calm my sobbing.

"Tobio!" I leave my fiancé's warm chest and faced him. "You better take care of yourself and your girl okay!"

"I will." Tobio gives me a genuine smile. "You both take care."

Tobio then heads back to the drunken mess inside.

"You okay?" My fiancé supports my emotionally exhausted body. "Shouldn't we head back in?"

"It's fine..." I press my face on his chest. "Let's stay like this for a while."

"Alright." He hugs me tighter and pats my head slowly and loving. "Take all the time you need."

"Thank you." I mumble.

Maybe in another life...things could have turned out differently. But right now I am more than satisfied with who I'm with.
