I was driving for hours.
He'd really upset me this time. I was always blamed, for everything. Everyone's shit in life was always piled up on me and I'd had enough. I pulled into a Tesco car park and walked into the store, beginning my hunt for milk.
I had wandered up and down the fridges until finally, I now held the carton in my hand. I walked over to the till to pay when the cashier looked up at me and started to smile. "Hey." She said, her voice soft and receptionist like. At first I smiled. It was weird to find a checkout woman who was actually engaging and nice. Then she said it again. This time, more threatening. I replied and quickly picked up my shopping. "Hey hey!" She said, pointing at me. In the end I gave up.
"What? What do you want?"
"It's you!"
"I'm sorry?"
Then I realised. To my horror, I turned around, away from the checkout, and faced the magazine aisle. Every single cover had the same headline.
'Hiddleston:Head Over Heels'
I opened my mouth to speak when I saw the pictures. The pictures of me. I was smiling, I was happy, I was in love. In love with the 'Sexiest Man of Our Generation' apparently. I analysed the covers and pulled one down for a further inspection. My face, my smile. I couldn't believe how happy I looked. And his face, Tom's smile. We're..."In love." I whispered.
I was quickly pulled out of the sudden realisation and turned around to see my path blocked by female shoppers, stretching their arms forward to touch the woman who had 'bagged' Tom. This doesn't happen usually but I was genuinely fearing for my life. With all my might, I bent over and tried to shrink into the crowd. I tiptoed and squeezed past the woman, hiding my face at all times with various hairstyles and expressions. When I was finally out of their grip, I ran. Pushing the key into the car door and turning on the engine, not once did I look behind at the crazy, middle aged mob behind me. I just drove. Drove fast and eagerly to get home.
To get to my Tom.
