I had set up a video camera in our dining room and Tom was now sat at the table staring into the lense. We were determined to reply to Grace in the most beautiful way possible and what better than Tom to actually speak to her in a video. He took in a deep breath and I pressed record. The words that came out made me cry in floods of tears and by the time he started to finish, he was crying on camera too.

I edited the video, set up a Tumblr account and sent the link to the blog. Within 5 minutes I got a reply asking who I was. I looked over at Tom who was now frantically tapping away at my laptop, determined to make the young girl watch the video. He wrote, "I know it's hard to believe, but I am the real Tom Hiddleston and his very shy girlfriend. We've sent you a video to prove it but if you want further proof, embarrassing selfies and pictures can be sent your way x". Another five minutes later and a reply came. "Proof please." Tom just scoffed. "What's wrong with people these days?" He held up his phone next to our faces and took the worst selfie ever. He linked it to our laptop and sent it to Grace. One minute later, "OMG MR HIDDLESTON I'M SO SO SORRY! I WILL WATCH THE VIDEO NOW SIR!" He laughed as he read the reply out loud and we sat waiting  for ten minutes whilst the girl presumably watched the video. A link was sent to us of a video chatting website called Oovoo and I opened the link and started a chat with her. I didn't look for long because she obviously wanted to talk to Tom but she did say hi to me before going into a massive fit about him. From what I did see, I gathered she was very unwell. Her skin was pale and wrinkled, her bones too visible for an average human being. I felt so depressed and nearly sick to think that I was healthy and well, yet this girl was half my age and on her deathbed.

They spoke for an hour and from the living room I could heat a lot of laughing from our end and crying and screaming from the other. Tom eventually ended the call and sat there in silence. After a while I went to check if he was okay and saw him with his head in his hands and tears streaming down his cheeks and neck. "Why?" He whispered softly as I wrapped my hands around his body and held him tight in my hands. "Why should I live this long when children like her are stuck, half my age and already dying? Why is life cruel and unfair?"
