Friday Night- Human AU

I flopped on my bed, sighing in satisfaction. The school day was finally over and the weekend was beginning. Junior year was absolute torture. I crawled to the back of my bed and grabbed a book called Keeper of the Lost Cities: Unlocked. I had just bought it and it was the best series ever! People keep telling me that I won't believe the ending so I was determined to finish it. I went to my favorite spot on the bed and sat down with the book. It must have been hours because it was getting dark until Edaline, my adoptive mother, came into the room.

"Sophie, what are you doing?" she asked.

"I'm reading a book," I replied.

"Sophie it's a friday night. You should be out with your friends! When I was your age, I would never be inside on a friday night," Edaline recalled.

"But I don't wanna. Can't I just read my book?" I whined.

Edaline crossed her arms as if she was thinking. "No. In fact, I'm forcing you to go out. I don't care who you go with, but just go out somewhere. Have fun! Live a little!" Edaline decided. She looked pretty satisfied too.

I groaned loudly, "Ugghh. Why, Mom, why do you have to torture me like this". She simply gave me her trademark knowing smile and left the room, closing the door behind her.

I decided to call my best friend Biana. The Vackers were the richest people in San Diego, but Biana and Fitz were actually quite sweet. I actually dated Fitz Vacker a few months ago but we broke up and decided to just stay friends.

I took out my phone and dialed Biana's number. I knew they probably would be out partying, especially on a Friday night. That way, Biana would say she couldn't, I would tell Edaline and she would let me live in peace.

The phone rang for a while but Biana finally answered. "Hello?"

"Hey Biana," I said.

"Ohh Sophie, hey."

"Um do you wanna go out today? You're probably busy. I'll go tell Edaline," I rushed.

"Sophie wait! Let me check my calendar." There was silence for a minute. "Oh my actual gosh, I have nothing today! Let's go! We can go to the movies! There's that cheesy rom-com in the theatres! I'll call Keefe, Tam, Linh, Dex, and Fitz and tell them to meet us at the theatre at 8!" She exclaimed.

"You've really got this all figured out, huh?" I mumbled.

"Yep! See you at 8!" Biana told me.

"Biana wai--" I started.

"Byeeee," my phone switched off. I groaned and dramatically flopped on the bed.

"Well this is gonna be an interesting night," I muttered.

7.45. Might as well get there early. I grabbed my car keys and called out, "I'm going to the movies."

"Have fun!" Edaline practically sang. I rolled my eyes. I could literally hear the happiness in her voice.

I went outside and got into my car. I started the engine and drove away. I had a blue Prius that I got for my 17th birthday. Finally, I reached the theatre. I parked, got out of the car and walked into the theatre. 7:55 pm. I went to the ticket guy and gave him my ticket. He directed me to theatre 12 and I walked down the aisles.

"Hey Foster! Over here!" a voice called out.

"Hey Keefe," I replied, sitting down at the seat next to his. It was in the back but that suited me just fine.
