I included the music video up there because it's amazing and it made me cry. Also lmk if you come up with a better title for this because this title sucks but I have no idea what else to do.
Happier- Bastille and Marshmello
"Lately, I've been, I've been thinking
I want you to be happier, I want you to be happier"Keefe sat on the porch swing outside the Shores of Solace, swaying in thought. Sophie and him had been dating for about a year despite the ongoing threat of then Neverseen. And with the upcoming final battle, their relationship had been deteriorating. Sophie wasn't happy. And that was what mattered to him. That was Keefe's first priority but he was afraid of even thinking about how to fix that. Well that and the fact that his mom had left a note on his drawer earlier in the morning.
"When the morning comes
When we see what we've become
In the cold light of day we're a flame in the wind
Not the fire that we've begun"Keefe saw Sophie coming into view. He quickly got up and asked, "What are you doing here this early on the morning?"
The orange light of the beautiful sunrise shone through Sophie's blonde hair. "Why, is that a problem?" she retorted.
"No," Keefe mumbled sitting back down on the swing.
Sophie walked towards me and sat next to me. "What's happening to us?" she whispered.
Keefe squeezed her hand, "It's this whole battle with the Neverseen coming up. Let's both be honest here, it's really stressful." Sophie nodded resting her head on his shoulder. "Speaking of the Neverseen, I have something to tell you," Keefe said his voice shaky.
"Every argument, every word we can't take back
'Cause with the all that has happened
I think that we both know the way that this story ends"Sophie took her head of Keefe's shoulder to look at him, "What?"
"My mom—Gisela left a note for me today."
"What did she say? I swear if she threatens you again I'm gonna kill her," Sophie mumbled.
Keefe gulped. This was going to be harder than he thought. "She told me to meet me... somewhere and we'd be alone and she promised not to bring any weapons—"
"No. Absolutely not," Sophie replied shaking her head. When Keefe didn't return her expression she said, "You can't actually be serious about this."
"She never said that I couldn't bring weapons. I could nab her. A group without their leader is nothing. This could be the big game changer."
"Keefe you could get hurt!" Sophie screamed getting up.
Keefe got up from the porch swing too, "Well you don't control what I can and can't do! I can go if I want to and you can't stop me!"
"Then go! Go get hurt! And go die while you're at it!" Sophie yelled, sobbing. "Just go die!"
Keefe stumbled back, tears springing into his eyes. This wasn't like Sophie. She would never say that.
"Then only for a minute
I want to change my mind
'Cause this just don't feel right to me"Keefe took a deep breath. He didn't want to tell Sophie the real reason her had to go. But he had to. Or else she would hate him forever. He would lose the one person in the world that actually cared about him. "She blackmailed me," he blurted. "She said she'd hurt you."
