Marcus practically jumped on Zandra when she returned to the lobby. "How was he? Is he okay? Was he talking? Why were you in there so long? When's he coming home? What's going on?"

"Calm the hell down!" she snapped, putting her hand over his mouth.

He glared at her then licked her palm. She gagged and pulled her hand away quickly wiping it on her pant leg. "Answer me."

"Do not do that again," she grumbled, "He's fine. He has a cut on his head and some bruises but other than that he's fine. Yes he was talking. I wasn't there that long. He's coming home tomorrow. He said he wants you to go home and stop bothering the agency people and Jana."

"He did not!"

"Yes he did. Now be quiet and let's go. You know you can't see him until he comes home," she said rubbing her temples.

He sighed and nodded reluctantly. He knew she was right and he was being a bother but he needed to see Severine. To see with his own eyes that he was fine now that this was all over. As they walked to the car he replayed the final fight, not for the first time, in his head. When he regained consciousness he had been in his room at the apartment. Nora was asleep at the foot of the bed. When she saw he was awake she gave him a tight hug that had stung his neck. She showed him a picture of the bruises left there by Issac's hands, then went to get Zandra.

When she came in he just gave her a questioning look knowing she'd explain everything anyway. She sat on the floor and waited for Nora to climb back onto the bed with him before starting. She explained that after freeing Nora she had hidden her in the elementary school's basement, then rushed back to find him. She had just come into sight of the clearing when she saw him fall because of the wildflowers around his legs. She drained the water from their stems as he had figured she did, then worked her way in a wide arc around the clearing to get on Issac's right side. He had been so focused on strangling Marcus that he hadn't noticed her, she was about to make her attack when Marcus's power surged and shocked Issac. She still had the water she had drained from the plants from earlier so added her powers into the mix, magnifying the shock and electrocuting him. Once he was down she had rushed to Marcus's side but he was already unconscious, she had felt for his pulse and breathed a sigh of relief when she found it. After that some people from the agency had come and apprehended Issac. They had taken Marcus, Zandra, and Nora home to the apartment and that was that.

She hadn't told any of them about his power surge, only the two of them and Issac knew. Issac wasn't in any condition to tell others about it though. They had tried to figure out what could have caused it but neither of them had any idea.

"Hey, snap out of it. Everything is fine now," Zandra said quietly.

He stood by the passenger door of the car looking over the top of it at her, "Sorry, I know. Thank you for everything Zandra."

She turned away quickly and got in the car but he still saw her blushing.

The next day he woke up late in the afternoon. He jumped out of bed when he remembered that they were allowing Severine to come home today. Walking out of his room to the kitchen he saw Zandra was gone from the couch and the blankets were folded nicely. He heard a noise in the kitchen and peaked over the island to see Nora looking for a pan.

"Morning," he said.

"Hey! It's actually afternoon, but whatever," she responded, "Glad to see you are up."

"Where's Zandra?"

"I'm not sure, there was a note on the counter from her saying she would be back later," Nora responded. She was filling the pot with water and wouldn't look at him, "I'm going to make some lunch, why don't you go take a shower."
