Evanora sighed to herself on the drive home. She knew Severine and Marcus would work out whatever was going on with them but she felt bad knowing she had just added to it. It was uncommon for Severine not to tell Marcus what she said and vice versa. She turned on the radio and couldn't find a station that fit her mood. She opened the center console and pulled out her favorite angry CD, Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park. She turned the volume up and drove.

Standing on the porch digging for her keys at the bottom of her purse, she noticed a car driving by slowly, it was hard to tell in the dark but she felt like the driver was staring at her. She dug in her purse quicker, not sure why the car was making her anxious. She found her keys and unlocked the door, stepped inside quickly, and locked the door again. She left the lights off and peeked out the living room window, she saw the car turn around further up the road then drive back by just as slowly. She shut the curtain and took the short flight of steps up to her bedroom and flopped on the bed. She shook off the anxious feeling, she was extremely tired suddenly and was almost asleep when her phone buzzed.

Marcus: Did you get home?

She replied that she had just walked in the door.

Marcus: Good we'll talk to you later

Smiling to herself she set an alarm for the next morning then quickly fell asleep.

Work the next day went rather quickly and was uneventful. Once she was off she changed into her favorite shirt, jeans, and boots, then made the short walk down to the local bar leaving her car in the lot behind the Cafe. She wished Severine and Marcus would have been able to join her but knew they were having them time. When she walked in she saw a couple of the girls from around town. She gave them a small wave then walked up to the bar and ordered a Miller Lite.

Walking back to the girls she caught the tail end of their gossip and joined in with her own. The girls were friendly enough. They had all gone to school together and were the ones that had said they would leave this town but never had. She laughed when they started talking about Severine and Marcus and how cute they both were.

"You guys do realize they bat for the same team right?" she asked laughing.

"What!?" one of them exclaimed.

"Ugh, I should have guessed!" said another.

She laughed again, "Yeah, I mean it isn't like they keep it secret."

After about an hour they told her they were heading to a different bar outside of town. She decided to stay behind and went to the counter. She ordered another Miller Lite, this one she drank quickly and ordered another in less than ten minutes. There was a college softball game on so she decided to stay and watch that.

A half hour later she ordered another drink. She was trying to remind herself that she had to drive herself home so she needed to take it easy. The pep talk wasn't going well though. The door opened, letting in a draft and she turned her head curiously to see who had come in. It was the older gentleman, Issac she thought was his name. She felt herself stiffen slightly, seeing him still gave her an uneasy feeling. She hoped he hadn't seen her but almost immediately, he came over to her.

"Hello, again sweetie," he said in what she figured he thought was a charming voice.

She nodded her head not wanting to actually speak to him.

"Where are your friends tonight?" he asked.

She shrugged and mumbled they were probably out. He nodded his head like this information made sense to him, then left and went to the other end of the bar. She tried to focus on the game again but couldn't. She went to take another drink but came up empty. She motioned to the bartender for another, he gave it to her and told her that one had been taken care of when she tried to pay for it. She asked who and he motioned to Issac. She gave a small thanks and taking the beer looked at Issac who smiled and waved. She shuddered again.

She turned and noticed someone had cleared a small space for dancing. They were playing Boot Scootin Boogie by Brooks and Dunn. She smiled and hopped down from the bar stool going to join the crowd, taking her beer with her. She danced for a while then came back once her bottle was empty. The bartender handed her another telling her again, it had been paid for by Issac. She was starting to get buzzed and knew this should be bothering her more than she was able to let it at the moment. She pushed the thought away and headed back to the floor when she heard the start of Watermelon Crawl by Tracy Byrd.

She was tired from all the dancing and was definitely drunk. The bartender handed her another drink then asked to see her phone. Not thinking clearly she handed it over to him, he smiled and thanked her, she unlocked it for him when he asked then focused on the game. A short while later he handed the phone back to her. Someone walked behind her saying they wanted to play darts but needed another person. She stood up too quickly and had to take a moment for the dizziness to subside before offering to be the partner they needed. They laughed at her slurred words but agreed.

After a couple of rounds of darts she decided she needed to head home. The bartender glanced towards the door when she asked him to make sure she was paid up.

"Do you have a DD Evanora?" he asked.

"Psh no, I'm fine," she giggled.

"You're not actually," he smiled, "why don't you chill out here a bit longer."

She rolled her eyes, giggling again, "Fine...all you silly boys...always trying to protect me."

"I could take her home," said a deep voice.

She and the bartender looked up at the same time. It was Issac. The bartender must have noticed her earlier hesitation about him because he shook his head almost before Issac had finished talking.

"No need, she's got someone coming," he told Issac.

"She just said she doesn't have a DD," he responded sounding slightly annoyed.

"She does actually, she just didn't know it," he responded in his own calm tone, "they should be here any minute."

She watched the exchange confused about what the big deal was from the alcohol. Just then She Only Smokes When She Drinks started playing.

"I love this song!" she exclaimed, startling both of them. She started singing it badly at the top of her lungs.
