"I'm off to work," Severine announced.

"Be careful," Marcus called back.

He shut the door behind him shaking his head. It was literally a block and a half from the apartment to the Cafe, you could see it from the apartment balcony. What did Marcus think could possibly happen to him in that short distance he thought to himself, then he tripped and nearly fell. He glanced back hoping Marcus wasn't watching from the balcony, as he sometimes did, thankfully he wasn't, but he was still embarrassed. He hurried the rest of the way to the Cafe.

"Hey girl, hey!" said a familiar cheery voice when he walked in.

"Oh God, Evanora, how many times do I have to ask you not to do that when you see me?" he asked, his face reddening again.

"Probably about a hundred more than you already have," she laughed.

He rolled his eyes and grabbed his apron, "Thanks again for switching me shifts on such short notice the other night. I know that made you work a double. I'll make it up to you."

"It's completely cool Sev. If my lonely ass ever finds a man or woman to put up with me, you can repay the favor then," she responded.

Evanora had heard Marcus call him Sev a couple of times and the nickname stuck, they were the only two allowed to call him that though.

He smiled, "One day Nora you will, you're brilliant and beautiful."

She really was beautiful, and it was the type of beauty she couldn't see in herself. Her eyes were a bright hazel and she had long brown hair that reached her shoulders. She had a little extra weight on her, but you would never know it because she dressed appropriately for her size. She also had a super sweet personality and would do anything for the people she cared about. If he batted for the other team or even if he was a switch hitter he would try to go for her.

"You're just saying that because you're one of my best friends," she said, her face red with embarrassment this time.

"One of them? Have you found a replacement for me already?" he asked in mock horror. He felt bad for embarrassing her.

"Ha! Like that would happen. The other one is Marcus you know that," she said sticking her tongue out.

He stuck his tongue out back at her, "Can I ask another favor?"

"Always, what's up?"

"Would you mind going and hanging out with him, if you aren't doing anything after this? We went to Caspian's grave this morning and I'm worried about him. Just until I get home or like until a half hour before I'm off? Please?" he asked.

"Of course I'll go cheer my girlfriend's ass up! I'll get him into a debate about something. That always seems to work," she said with a smile.

He laughed and shook his head, "Get outta here. Literally, get out, your shift is over." He gestured towards the door to emphasize his point.

"See you when you get off tonight," she smiled and grabbed her purse from under the counter, walking towards the door.

She made a startled noise of surprise and he glanced up, fully alert, she was digging for her keys and nearly ran into a rather tall man. He heard her mumble an apology and step back out of his way, making eye contact with him to let her know she was okay, then she headed out the door.

The tall gentleman sat at the bar and looked around. Severine watched out the window a moment to make sure Evanora made it into her car alright then took a menu to the man. Once he got closer he saw that he really was tall, as easily as tall as his father. He looked about the same age as him too. He seemed familiar but he put that down to the size and age of the man being so similar to his father's.
