Chapter 1 Beginning of the End

1845
Continent of Marley, Military Port.

Today, is the day, Y/N, Marcel Annie, Bertholdt, and Reiner were going to the Island of Paradis for their Founding Titan Retrieval Mission.

A year ago, the Warrior Candidates were now given their Titans. Zeke as the Beast Titan, Pieck as the Cart Titan, Marcel as the Jaw Titan, Bertholdt as the Colossal Titan, Annie as the Female Titan and the most unexpected one, Reiner as the Armored Titan. Y/N and the others were surprised to see Reiner as the Armored Titan. Reiner never had any good traits except his loyalty to Marley. And Porco was left in Marley alone for 13 Years. Well, not entirely alone because Pieck and Zeke weren't sent to the Island with them.

As of now, they were waving goodbye to their family after they just boarded the ship.

The ship traveled to Paradis until they got to the Harbor.

They were riding horses during night time where there are less Titans.

"I'm feeling cold." Y/N said

"Me too." Marcel said

"Let's stop by for a moment to heat up. I'm not good with the cold temperatures." Y/N said

The five rested with their horses and they gathered some sticks and wood for the fire and circled around it.

"Guess we couldn't travel very far tonight." Marcel said

"Thanks to this cold night." Y/N said

"Even if we manage to break the wall, how can we know for sure that the king won't use the Founding Titan?" Bertholdt asked

"What're you talking about? Have a little faith in Marley's research." Reiner said

"That's right. There's no going back. Even for me." Y/N said

"Correct. Tomorrow, we attack the wall." Marcel said

The five looked at the bonfire in silence confusing Reiner.

"Huh? What's the matter? You do all want to kill the Island Demons, don't you? Don't you remember what they've done?" Reiner asked

"We are warriors chosen to bring the World's Judgement down on those demons." Reiner stood up

Marcel looked down

"I'm sorry." Marcel apologized

"Huh?" Reiner looked at Marcel

The three others also looked at Marcel

"Reiner, I'm sorry. You weren't supposed to be chosen as a Warrior. I tried to make you look good to the army while making Porco look worse." Marcel said

"What?" Reiner asked

"I wanted to protect my brother. I'm sorry. Reiner, I'm sorry!" Marcel apologized

"I understand Marcel. I inherited the Warhammer because I wanted my older siblings to live a long happy life. I don't even plan on having a family. I just want to protect them." Y/N said

Suddenly, a titan came out of the ground and Marcel stood up. The Titan was about to grab Reiner, but Marcel pushed Rejner and he was grabbed instead. The Titan ate Marcel and Reiner ran away.

"Wait!" Y/N shouted

Reiner didn't stop and Bertholdt followed him. Annie and Y/N then ran after them.

Y/N and Annie caught up to Bertolt and they saw Reiner kneeling beside a tree frightened.

Annie kicked Reiner's side and Reiner got so scared he raised his arms.
