After seeing that the doctor, Cathy, and Tobias off, Ellen rejoined Mason's side, " how are you doing?" she asked Kyle, hugging him.
"I want to say fine, but how can I be fine... Look at him," Kyle muttered as he pointed at Mason, who was staring aimlessly ahead, occasionally blinking with trails of previous tears.
"what happened! Why was he crying?" Ellen inquired while she went to the bathroom to fetch a facecloth and a dish of water. After placing it on the nightstand, she soaked the face cloth and squeezed the water before wiping Mason's face.
"Nothing, just a reflex reaction like the doctor explained," Kyle lied. He didn't want to burden his sister with the pain. Mason needed help. Real help. His mind raced with thoughts before he left to call an individual, Tommy from I.K.A.T.T. According to the data he read before joining a partnership with Tommy, their company was well known for medical advancement and technology beyond comprehension. It's how Tommy has become the wealthiest guy in the world. Tommy's net worth is estimated to be 198 billion leaving Elon Musk in second.
Meanwhile
After jumping through a portal that leads to another dream, Mason and Molly argued, "don't dare say that cursed name in here," Molly scoffed as she blew her fringe side, "I should have known better."
Molly was about to leave Mason where he stood and wake up, but her surroundings were Mason's nightmare. It was the scene when Mason was having an autopsy as if he was dead. Disgusted, Molly opened another door and walked through it with Mason following diligently. The room itself was a gigantic book that leaned on one another. "Was that a memory?" Molly said while her stomach felt like clothes in a laundromat.
"yeah, a nightmare I've just escaped."
"That's horrible. You're an idiot, but I'll teach you how to avoid stuff like that," she thought out loud. Where would they even begin? It took Molly years to achieve this much control of her dreams, and she studied her ass off too. She still had doubts about Mason. The room they entered was the white nothingness or what she called the great white. According to her research, it was the realm between nightmares and dreams, though it is much more than that. It was a gateway. Not even Molly knows to what. Legend has it that the gate connects everyone's dreams, the dead, the multiverse, another dimension, but one thing is for certain. Beyond the great white, hidden in the mist, is a great golden door which Cerberus.
"first thing first, do you understand that this is a dream," Molly added because Mason seemed out of it. His mind tarnished by the scene he'd just witnessed, fear ate at him. His blood was cold, and so was he. Mason's sanity was like a thread as thin as a strand of hair to which an elephant chooses to tread. "hello, Mason!"
Molly repeated, but Mason couldn't hear. He was too lost. Molly slapped him, but that only brought him back for a second. After realising what Mason was going through, she held him close to her and squeezed him tightly.
Tears rolled down both of their eyes as Mason returned and burst out crying, "I can't do this anymore," bawled Mason as he held on to Molly for dear life.
"I know," Molly replied, "I know, and that's why you've gotta become stronger."
"I'm nothing but weak, unlike you," Mason continued.
"guess what, I was weak as you, and through the suffering, I got back up and taught myself what I know. I'm not sure when I became strong or if I'm strong. All I know is that I'm better than what I was."
"I just want to live. To be normal. To live without fear. To sleep in peace without the worry of being haunted by these demons to be something. To do something, to be something. To be strong and not a coward that I am," Mason confessed, breaking from Molly's grip.
