Kyle sat in embarrassment as he tried to explain why he was holding the side of his jaw. "So... She punched you?" Ellen laughed as she entered the lounge with two ice packs.
"Yep, a solid one too," Kyle admitted, grabbing the ice packs from his sister and passing one to Tobias.
" You deserved that for asking her like she was some cheap whore. Where are your manners now?"
"I know, don't rub it in. Ow," Kyle winced, "she is sure feisty... So Tobias, your hand, what exactly happened to it?"
Tobias explained how his hand was caught between the door while Ellen felt guilty and apologised a thousand times in between. Today the guys were having a bad day. Kyle's laughing was interrupted when Henry walked in calm and composed. His hand balanced a silver tray with four wine glasses and a red drink that had cute but tiny umbrellas. Handing them a fancy cocktail, he addressed the current situation, "Sir, there's someone that's here to see you."
"Who?"
"She calls herself Cathy and claims to know you," he answered as Tobias and Ellen held back a, "ouuuu. "
"Is...that the same girl that punched you," she asked. Ellen was intrigued and was dying to meet the girl who had the guts to punch her brother.
"Yes, and Henry, please send her away," Kyle demanded.
Henry was about to call the security room to see to it that Cathy finds her way out when Ellen stopped him mid-sentence and gave him an order, "Henry enough. I've got this," Ellen said, evilly smirking as she took the phone from him. She then instructed them to escort Cathy up and that Henry was to prep them a meal. A feast to be enjoyed.
"Right, this way, Miss Cathy," Henry directed, down an echoing hallway. Kyle sat anticipating the storm that was heading his way while on the other hand, Ellen was excited, her heart trembled as Cathy walked in. She came by with a coy smile. On the inside Cathy was anxious, she couldn't believe that she punched Kyle Monroe, someone who had enough power to make her life a living hell compared to what it was at the moment.
"Hey, I'm Ellen. I'm the sister of this moron over there."
"Oh, hi," Cathy sheepishly said, scanning the environment, marveling at its beauty. It was as if she walked into a president's house. There was a huge tv in the living room and behind the plush leather coach where Kyle sat was a tank that stretched to the wall, filled with tropical fish. She wasn't sure if she was at an aquarium or what. Beyond that was a huge window, and it had a view. The greatest spectacle, no one should have had such a sight. The city lights gave a dramatic ambience. Cathy was drawn into the scenery that she walked closer to the window. Scared, Kyle remained quiet.
Ellen cleared her throat, causing Cathy to jerk backward, "Jesus! You gave me a fright. I'm a bit distracted. This is all..."
" Luxurious," Ellen interjected.
" fancy, beautiful, and yes, luxurious. It's new to me," Cathy explained as she sat opposite to Kyle. "Sorry about your jaw."
"Don't apologise to him," Ellen scoffed, "Kyle! Go on..."
"yes. Uhm. I should apologise. I was wrong," Kyle mumbled. Although muttered, she could still make out his apology. Cathy was coming here to ask for forgiveness to save her ass. She was going to go as far as beg him but here they are, and the conversation is going in her favour.
"Dinner should be ready soon. I'll check on Mason. Uhm, if you want to punch him. Feel free to do it again," Ellen joked
"Tempting, but it won't happen."
"Ahh... disappointing," Ellen said, exiting the room as Tobias, Kyle, and Cathy were directed to the dining room. They ate and enjoyed the feast as they chat freely. Cathy remained silent most of the time. It was until Kyle asked her a delicate question that she spoke.
"So, how's work?"
Work. She didn't have a job from now on just because she of overworking herself. That wasn't fair, not in her eyes. " I got fired."
"Hmm, want to talk about it?" Kyle asked. There was a secretary position open because the last lady didn't do well with Kyle's advances. He wanted to offer her a job. Be the hero of the day. Make her fall in love with him. Get married, have kids.
"Hey, Kyle... This is great for us. We have a free position open for you," Tobias boasted.
"You do!"
"Yeah, send me your resume, and I'll make sure you're treated well. I mean, it's the least I can do to make it up for how Kyle treated you," Tobias continued.
"Damn you, Tobias," Kyle whispered under his breath. Tobias stole his spotlight. With Tobias, ever so generous, Cathy and him seem to be hitting it off. A bit frustrated, Kyle went to call Ellen so that she could join them. So that Tobias were to be more into Ellen.
Kyle walked in on Mason choking the life out of Ellen against the wall with both his hands. When he saw Kyle, he abruptly let her fall to the ground. Mason then walked to the corner of the room as he sat hugging his knees. He whispered something, but it sounded gibberish.
Kyle rushed to Ellen's side. She was struggling to get wind past through her pipe. It was as if she forgot how to breathe. Coughing harshly, she began to breathe. The complete darkness she saw cleared, and her vision slowly came back. She thought that was it for her. She was to die at the hands of Mason. Still adamant, she approached him.
Blood was dripping from where needles for the drips were placed. "Stay away from me!" Mason cried as he gripped his hair before repeating softly to himself, "stay away from me."
