Chapter 21

-Jace-

“Mine.” Jace growled playfully as he pulled Shayla back into the bed.

“No Jace. Mine,” She told him as she pinned him down holding his hands over his head. He broke free and threaded his fingers into her hair as he stared up at her. She was the most beautiful sight he had ever set eyes upon. She stared back at him with such love in her eyes his heart skipped a beat before it spluttered beating both fast and slow at the same time.

“I will always be yours Baby.” He told her.

She smiled stealing his breath all over again. Jace pulled her down until her lips melted against his own; she opened to him her softness moulding against him. As they touched skin to skin along every inch of their bodies, burning him like fire as they fused as one. He moaned as she kissed him with a hunger that was wild and consuming as his head spun and little sparks seemed to ignite within.

“If I had known it was this good I wouldn’t have waited.” Shayla exclaimed, her words oozing with lust and need.

“Baby if I knew what this was like, and what I know waking up next to you this morning we would have lived the last six weeks a lot differently.”

4 Days Earlier….

-Jace-

Jace lay down beside Shayla in the grass clearing outside the cabin, her glossy blonde blue hair sprayed out like a fan around her. Soft blue cornflowers and large white daisies surrounded them, the long grass concealing them from the world.

Jace couldn’t help but feel content in the moment. He was glad he had Shayla close even if he felt empty at the loss some how. He had cried thousands of tears, for her and he was sure it wouldn’t be over any time in the foreseeable future. He loved her with all his heart and though the visible signs had almost healed. He knew she wore another’s mark.

He rolled onto his side so he could watch her. Reaching out he touched the soft skin around where Trent’s mark branded her, not wanting to touch her there directly. “You’ve healed fast.” He told her quietly. Slowly he squeezed his eyes shut opening them again as he fought the urge to cry again.

She was watching him.

“I never loved him, Jace__ What I mean is he wanted me to, but I never let him into my heart. I didn’t have a heart to give him.”

Jace creased his brow in confusion. “You have it Jace. I gave my heart to you, it was always yours; the moment I first saw you. I didn’t know it then but I was forever yours.” She paused for a moment. “I prayed when I woke up again after he marked me. I prayed you would find someone to love again that you could find happiness.” He stared at her for the longest time in awe of her. The fact she would wish that for him even though she was facing a lifetime of heartache and submission. She truly does love me, Jace thought, even though he already knew it without a doubt in his heart.  “There is no one else Shay__ I may not be your Mate anymore but I could never stop loving you.”

She rolled onto her side facing him. Jace watched as a tear rolled down her cheek disappearing as it past into her hairline. “I wish it had never happened, I wanted to grow old and have babies with you Jace.” Jace wiped his thumb over the trail smudging another tear as it spilled down into her hair. He hated seeing her cry. “Please don’t cry baby, we can still have those things I promise, I want those things with you. I always have and anyway he is dead how is he going to stop us from doing whatever we want.”
