Having birthed my child only four months ago, I held him closely wrapped against my chest. Not a soul roamed the streets, and in the dark of the rain, I feared my child's death. I sadly had no shelter. The orphanage having thrown me out because no one would look my way after my pregnancy. My heart ached for their cruelty. I was to marry someone else, but instead he courted a girl of 16, me being only 14.

I cuddled up against my crying baby, underneath the bridge that separated the palace and the village. Once again worrying for my sons life. That's when I heard it. The steady beat of a horses hooves. A beat that stopped right above my head. I stood and tried to move, but I felt a light hand grasped my shoulder. The face that gazed into mine, was all too familiar. The emerald green clothing was the royal color. The man standing in front of me was the Prince. Soon to be crowned King. I lowered myself as to get on my knees, and instead he lifted me into his arms. A smile dancing on his face when he saw the baby's eyes staring up at him.

"Who are you?"

"I am Tempeste. I'm from the orphanage my son and I were kicked out, I'll be fine, please don't hurt your back trying to carry us."

"And what is your sons name?"

"Well your Highness, I have yet to name him."

"How old is he?"

"Almost five months."

"And no one let you two in?"

"No your Highness. "

"Call me my name Tempeste. "

"I'm sorry. No Prince Diamond. No cares for us."

"You look young yet aged. I'd say around 14?."

"Yes."

"How'd you end up with a child and not a husband."

"He wanted to make sure I was fertile. Then chose as different girl."

"Who could use such a pretty face? I will have you stay in the palace with me. You will share my room, you and your son, and you both will stay hidden there. I hope you will not mind but you will be my personal maid. In exchange you'll both have a warm home, clothes, a bed, and food."

"Anything. Anything to get my son out of the cold."

What I'd just agreed to did not cross my mind, warm dry clothes did. My son okay did. Being in the strong arms of the prince did. Still living to see tomorrow did too.

I woke up to find my son cuddled by my stomach and the Prince cuddled to me and my son. The shock of last night not being a dream came slowly. And in a calm manner I got out of the colossal bed, and walked to the balcony. I was saved. Saved by a Prince at that. I smiled. I smiled until I fell. And I fell until I was caught by those strong arms once again.

"Are you okay?"

"I just have a small cold is all, please don't get sick."

"This is not a small cold, this is a terribly high fever! You and your son are now my responsibility, and in that I will never let sickness befall you. Come, let me carry you to the bed and get you undressed."

"Please no."

"Do not worry, I am very respectful. "

And respectful he was as he peeled off every bit of my clothing and laid me on the bed. He put my son to lay in a bundle of covers on the floor as he placed cold damp clothes on my body. He left the room and brought back a fan, which he fanned me with until I fell asleep. The last thing I heard was my sons beautiful laugh.
