tw: bring. your freaking. tissues. nothing triggering. lots of emotion. I cried while writing this.
Harry's plan couldn't have been more perfectly timed. Hazel has just left the common room to do whatever it is that she needs to do. So now is the perfect time to put his plan into action.
He knows that he won't be able to grab her attention on his own. She'd take one look at him and walk away. It would be pointless. So he's doing something... using... someone special to her... to grab her attention for him.
With Neville's help, they used a multiplication charm on a sunflower and laid a trail of them that only Hazel will be able to see to the astronomy tower. Where Hermione and Ron are hard at work with the 'hard stuff'.
They're creating a one sided mirror much like the Mirror of Erised, but with a different effect. It's going to let someone who Hazel hasn't seen or talked to in years... finally speak with her. But for a short amount of time.
Essentially, Harry's plan... is letting an old friend of his set Hazel straight. Because he's out of options. So he's using the last thing that he thinks is going to work to get Hazel's attention.
Harry fought his own desires to talk to said old friend, because the spell will only work for so long. And he wants to give Hazel as much time with him as he can. The spell is set to take effect as soon as Hazel enters the astronomy tower.
The trio met back in the common room and crossed their fingers in hopes that this works.
-Hazel's pov-
I was just on my way back from the owlery to check on Draco's owl that had taken a rather long and difficult journey to send my letter to Sirius. But... now I'm seeing sunflowers on the floor?
They're leading somewhere, so I began picking them up and bunching them together as I followed their trail. Once I realized where they were leading me, I had a feeling I knew who was behind this.
These flowers are going to lead me to Harry and he's going to try to talk some sense into me and convince me to tell him what's going on. I don't plan on telling him anything. But I'm following the flowers anyway to collect all of them. They're my favorites.
I reached the top of the astronomy tower and... facing a mirror? A large glass mirror.
"What...?" I set the flowers down and approached the mirror. And the face staring back at me... instantly brought tears to my eyes. "Ced...?"
"Hey, sunflower," The dark haired boy's bright smile made my knees weak. Like it always has. I found myself sitting in front of the mirror. He sat in front of me on the other side. "I've been watching over you. I see what you're going through."
"I miss you. I miss you so much," I shook my head, tears free falling down my cheeks.
"I know you do. I wish I could wipe those tears away," Cedric frowned a little. "You scared me. A few days ago. I saw you sitting on that railing behind me."
"Ced..." I sniffled. "Please..."
"No, listen to me, please," Cedric asked. "Hazel, I love you. I love you so much, you're my girl. But you have so many people to live for here. You have Neville who needs you. You have Fred and George who've been like your brothers since you were kids. And you have Harry. Someone who's taken such good care of you since I left."
"Ced I miss your hugs. I miss your arms. I miss laying on your chest. I miss your kiss. I-I need you back..."
"I wish I could come back. I wish I could be there for you," Cedric frowned. "I miss you too. But I'm rooting for you. I've seen where you'd be headed if you let Voldemort win. It's not good. And it's not where I am either. Hazel, I need you to lift your head, okay? I need you to be strong."
