The world was slowly fading away as we rushed head first into Death's opened arms and I knew that there was no way his life could slip from my hands, there was no way that he was going to become yet another ghost from my past that I saw every time I looked into the broken fragments of a mirror. You've always walked in front of me, forcing me to look at your back because you thought that I needed protection...but not this time.
A pained cry suddenly filled the air and I froze as nightmares flashed through my mind, the ones where my father screamed for help as his body slowly shattered into the pieces that were once his soul, the ones where blood slowly slithered down my hand as the runes that had become my curse carved their way into my flesh. With rage guiding every single one of my steps, gold streaks replaced my veins and time seemed to slow as I once again broke its barrier in order to rush to my teacher's aid, to help someone I should have hated with every single fiber of my being.
Just as I finally got a hold of his hand, the creature crushing his body somehow managed to get a hold of my neck before a force that could only belong to one individual forcefully ripped his grip from my body, allowing me to reach the entrance with my teacher barely hanging on to my back. When I finally regained full control of my movements, I realized that the whole world had almost completely faded since using this much energy had weakened my systems, allowing the poison to spread at an even faster rate than it had before and now all that was left was the feeling of a cold hand resting on my cheek.
"What happened to you ?" Mr. Aizawa murmured. "You need to get out of here before they take-"
"I'm fine." I softly whispered. "I know these people better than you ever could, they helped me escape this hell for a moment...at least that's what I used to think."
"Don't run off like that." Bakugo suddenly scolded, out of breath. "Come on, let's go."
Despite how much pain came with moving a single muscle, I knew that my time was counted so I followed after him in hopes that this time his steps alone would be enough to guide me like they always had, even though now my enemy wouldn't be bullied but rather the man who used to be a pretender of my older brother and who was now the person hunting me down. When we finally got close enough for me to be able to guess shapes and movements, I noticed that the hero who had helped me earlier was now trapped knees deep into the abyss while the creature who was holding Mr. Aizawa had its claws in his thighs, hanging on to his flesh for dear life. While Bakugo and I started getting ready to attack, Midoriya rushed out of the water in order to help but the mist once again formed into a more human-like figure, ready to engulf the green haired boy in a matter of seconds as its sharp golden eye locked on my own.
"GET THE HELL OUTTA MY WAY DEKU !" Bakugo ordered.
He snuck up behind the villain and pressed his hand down on the only weakness I had informed them of, the armor protecting his neck which was the only part of him that couldn't produce the strange mist but right before he could recover from the sudden shock, I released a focused blow of repulsive force right on the armored part of his body. Before I had time to sense a presence behind me, a wave of ice froze the right side of the creature hanging on to All Might's thigh and I knew that it was almost time for us to end this now that we had the strongest possible back up.
"One of your poorly trained thugs told me you're here because you can kill All Might." Todoroki spoke up as the pro hero in question managed to get out of the creature's grasp.
My entire body went cold as a hand wrapped around my neck with one finger taunting me as it hovered right above my skin, threatening to kill me if I made the slightest of moves and it felt as though my soul had been ripped out of my body. The hand which I had placed every fragment of my hopes in was now the one which would take my life in a split second if so much as one of my muscles slightly twitched, the hand which used to be so warm and welcoming now turned cold and hostile.
"My dear little sister." His raspy voice spoke up. "I've missed you."
My eyes filled with tears as memories of his gentle hand holding my own came flooding back to my mind, his arms wrapped around my beaten body as I tried to hide from the thunderstorm, his quiet footsteps leaving my room in the middle of the night as to spare me yet another whipping from our Master but most importantly, his steady heartbeat against my ear as he softly brushed my hair while he whispered reassuring promises into my ear.
"Shigaraki..." I greeted in a broken voice. "You shouldn't lie."
The only thing that kept me from moving was the memory of the child he used to be, the boy I knew couldn't be hurt by my own hands simply because it would destroy me in every sense of the word, because it would betray everything we had ever dreamed about. However, when my gaze met Bakugo's unusually worried one, the realization that my actions were going to betray him too made my lungs empty and my heart tighten as I knew that whether or not I would live for him or die for the man holding my life in his hands, I would rip out a part of myself.
"Kurogiri..." Shigaraki's raspy voice called out. "How could you let this brat get the best of you ? You've gotten us into a real jam here."
"You got careless you dumb villain." He mocked. "It wasn't hard to figure you out, you're not immune to physical attacks if they're well aimed."
My eyes briefly locked onto Kurogiri's sharp golden ones and for a moment, it felt as though the mist was suffocating me all over again despite the fact that he was too far to even brush a finger onto my skin, yet the abyss was flickering right below my feet. As I blinked one last time, a veil draped over my eyes and turned the entire world black while the poison now made its way to my hearing, the only one of my senses which was still intact after all the drugs that had been transferred into my bloodstream.
"Kids these days really are amazing, they make the league of villains look like amateurs." The man behind me sighed. "Can't have that. What has it been Yuki ? About 6 years right ? Tell me, how are your vocal cords doing ?"
As soon as those words were spoken, I felt a hitch of breath leave my body and my head lowered to face the ground as my hair fell onto my face to create a shadow covering my eyes now filled with a terror that was almost too much for me to bear. He wasn't a God of any sorts yet in that instance, it felt as though he had just passed his judgment upon me simply to remind my body just how broken it had been made by his hands alone, by an accident that nearly cost me my life.
"Well anyway." He nonchalantly shrugged. "Nomu."
Unable to see what was going on around me, I relied on the sound of shattering ice to tell me the creature which had been rendered helpless a few minutes ago was now free once more yet even with the imminent threat standing only inches from me, the only thing I could focus on was the true meaning of his words. Ever since that fateful day, not a single word left my mouth without my throat feeling as though it was being ripped apart by needles and even after Master healed them, nothing was ever the same and silence had become the only thing keeping me safe, even now, every single word I spoke was pure agony.
"First we need to free our method of escape." Shigaraki announced. "Get him Nomu."
Without a second of hesitation, I ripped myself away from his grasp and grabbed Bakugo's hand before throwing him out of the way in a desperate attempt to keep him alive even for a few more seconds if that was all I could get because letting my old friend rip apart the one I now saw as my only warmth would be unforgivable. Despite the darkness filling my sight, I knew that it was too late for me since the monster was already breathing down my neck and in an attempt to save my own life, I released all of the repulsive force I had gathered in the few seconds before the order was given.
However, it was already too late and its fist crashed against my stomach, sending me flying into the wall behind us as my bones shattered, drawing a sharp cry from my lips while the pain added to the one that came with the broken concrete impaling every inch of my body. Just as I slipped away from consciousness, a trembling gloved hand hesitantly wiped the blood away from my mouth and the last words my ears managed to catch were ones spoken by Shigaraki's horrified voice, ones that I had heard countless times before.
"WAKE UP, PLEASE !"
