a/n: this chap picks up mid conversation, so you might wanna look over the end of the previous chapter if you can't quite remember what's going on✨

"What kind of business?" I ask, genuinely curious. This doesn't seem very much like a proposal.

"Well, I wanted to talk about what your plans are next," she says, playing with the fingers on the hand she's holding.

"Oh," I say, feeling myself deflate a bit. Has she heard about the Taylor offer?

"Pez, is something wrong?" She asks, looking at me worriedly.

"No, no," I assure her. "I know what I want next. I'm just worried you're gonna fight me on it."

She looks at me in confusion, and I just sigh.

"I've received an offer. To open a massive US tour."

"For who?" She asks, tilting her head to the side, like she's thinking.

"Taylor. Swift? It a pretty recent offer, and I'm gonna say no, but-"

"Oh, okay. Alright. Wait, why would you say no?" She asks, pulling me in a little closer.

"'Cos I don't wanna spend another four months without you. It'll kill me, Jes. I love doing music, but I love you so much more. I'm perfectly content to just follow you around, maybe play a song here and there when you get bored and wanna spice things up. And I know you're gonna insist I take the job, but I've thought hard about this- I really have, Jes- and I'll be much happier and more fulfilled as your girlfriend than I would be on stage. Yes, I'll be much happier as your in-person girlfriend who sleeps in your bed every night instead of being your over-the-phone, constantly-pining and always-missing-you-terribly girlfriend," I say, meaning every word and hoping Jesy understands.
