"Okay I think that's enough," Yongguk said, watching Junhong spill his drink in an attempt to pick it up from the table. He put the glass on the other side of the table as if it would stop Junhong from drinking it. The guy blinked and gave Yongguk his signature puppy-eyes. Yongguk tried to make his heart cold.
Junhong hit his forehead against Yongguk's chest. "But I'm having so much fun," he complained, his voice slow like he needed a longer time to make out every word. Yongguk didn't dare to even move and just let him stay there, hearing his slow breathing.
"I can't argue with that. But you're way too drunk right now," he said. Junhong lifted his head to look at Yongguk with bright eyes.
"No I'm not," he argued, shaking his head
"Then how many fingers am I holding up?" Yongguk held out three of his fingers and showed them to the younger who stared at the fingers for some time, seeming to be thinking hard inside his head. His lips already formed into the position of saying the word and 'three' a almost came out but instead, he grabbed the hand and bit into one Yongguk's fingers. He didn't bite hard but Yongguk still almost pulled his hand back as a reaction.
Junhong let go after some time. "Sorry I thought that was a sausage." He was clearly just playing around. Then he laughed for the whole next minute. Yongguk didn't move again and he just stared at the other, wondering what to do with him.
After gathering himself again, Junhong announced he needed to go to the bathroom. Yongguk let him go and just stayed there, sitting at that couch alone - most of the people at the party had left already and the ones that were left had gone in some other room. Yongguk glanced to his right and saw Gunhee in the kitchen, talking to some girl that was sitting on the counter. Just seeing that he already knew that that night, Gunhee was going to cheat on Jen. Yongguk just looked away. Regardless of his strong disapproval, he was - once again - not going to do anything about it. He pretended he didn't see.
Yongguk wasn't exactly sure about the passage of time but eventually he still noticed Junhong was taking a longer time than usual. He started to get more worried but a voice inside his head told him not to think too much. Junhong was probably just talking to someone he met on the way. Or then he was throwing up.
After some time he felt like it really had been too long - he had not looked at the clock at any point so he had no idea how long Junhong actually had been gone - and decided to head towards the bathroom to find Junhong. He couldn't get far, though, when he already ran into the guy in the hallway. The younger seemed to have already been making his way back and for a second, Yongguk felt relieved and told himself he had gotten worried for no reason. Then he noticed something was wrong.
Junhong's gaze was laced; his eyes were just staring blankly somewhere in the abyss and they looked lifeless. Yongguk's stomach dropped immediately because this was not the Junhong he knew. He had never seen the kid in such a state.
"What did you take?" he yelled out, grabbing the younger by the shoulders and shaking him in a desperate attempt to wake him up from whatever trance he was in. Junhong didn't react in any way. His eyes didn't move nor did he let out a sound. "Junhong what did you take?" Yongguk repeated himself, his voice higher now.
He knew he wouldn't get an answer from the other. He realized it didn't even matter what Junhong had taken since there was no going back from it now. Junhong was already so high his soul seemed to have left his body. There was nothing Yongguk could do about him at that point - or at least nothing he knew to do since he had no experience dealing with people who used drugs.
He calmed himself down and walked Junhong back to the couch, making him lay down there. Junhong obeyed easily and it actually disturbed Yongguk how much he seemed like a lifeless doll. His muscles were tense and his mind was filled with anxiety and as Junhong fell asleep almost immediately without any trouble, Yongguk sat there the whole night, not allowing himself to fall asleep even if he felt tired. He just watched Junhong with his heart filled with worry, feeling like the guy would die if he took his eyes off even for a second.
